Go Kan Ryu karate[edit]

Hi Cooper52 - Thanks for your message on my talk page. The article on Go Kan Ryu karate had only one editor, aside from the person who nominated it for deletion. The page was actually nominated for deletion for 2 reasons: WP:CSD#G10 (attack page or negative unsourced biography) and WP:CSD#G12 (copyright violation). The article wasn't vandalised; rather it consisted of the same negative content from the beginning. Unfortunately, I can't repeat the text here for the same reasons it was deleted, but it was written in what I imagine was supposed to be a jokey fashion, disparaging the subject, the founder and the practitioners - there was no material at any time that was suitable for an article. If you like, I can take a look at the forum to check that it is the same article; you can leave the link on my talk page - I can delete it if necessary, or email me if you prefer: there's a link for that on the left column of my talk page.

If you would like to create another article on Go Kan Ryu karate, feel free to do so. You can work on a draft in your user space (eg. User:Cooper52/Go Kan Ryu karate) until your article is ready for the main encyclopedia. Be aware, though, that any article will need reliable sources such as magazine or newspaper articles which focus on the subject. You may also want to ask on the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts where knowledgeable editors hang out. Hope this helps! --Kateshortforbob talk 09:21, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think you're correct about the other article: the article I deleted (Go Kan Ryu karate) was an attack page from the beginning, and which matches the screenshot from the martial arts forum. However, there was another article (GKR Karate) which was deleted after a discussion in December (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/GKR Karate) where there were concerns about notability and lack of reliable sources. GKR Karate was around from 2005 and has a history similar to your description - a legitimate article with lots of IP editing. (For completeness, there was a third article Go Kan Ryu, a stub created in 2005, which was redirected to GKR Karate in 2006) I'm not much involved in the AFD process, but if you're interested in the article, you could talk to the deleting administrator Courcelles. --Kateshortforbob talk 15:27, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
