Kyle's Spoon

[edit]

Kyle's Spoon - Theory regarding the inevitability of the passage of time, popularized by the philosopher [Kyle Lee] of [Milton/Canton, MA]. Kyle's Spoon states: "The seemingly never-ending amount of time between a state of boredom - usually caused by a task which one has deemed undesirable, like sitting through a whole class period or a day of work - and the point when one is free from that boredom, will inevitably pass." Kyle's Spoon is a statement of rational fact, an especially relevant and useful tool when one is experiencing the "slow clock" phenomonon, a mental state characterized by frequent glances at the hour and minute hands, which appear to be moving incredibly slow or not at all. Slow Clock often sets in at the office after lunch, or in any classroom after the first ten minutes.

Critique by a Rising Star

Recently, there has been heated discussion involving Kyle Lee's work and his most well known piece, The Spoon. Some newer theories by an up and coming political analyst/philosopher named Theodore Mabrey have perhaps altered much of The Spoon's meaning. "Mabrey's Noose" essentially is Kyle's Spoon in reverse; it states that fun times will end, hanged by the inevitable noose of future boredom, which will be caused by the necesary undertaking of those duties socially required for one's participation in civilized society, like attendance in the classroom or workplace.
