Sorry

Hi DESK JOVI,

Sorry, you have been correct: The user whose edits you wanted to revert at WP:SPI was indeed a sockpuppet. The three-hour block seemed to be necessary to allow checkusers and clerks to deal with the case without interruption. Hiding an investigation request against yourself inside an HTML comment does still appear to be good-faith disruption in hindsight; I would else now add a short entry to your block log to clarify that my block had been completely unnecessary.

Thank you for the correct report and best regards,

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Mario Gómez does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Someone else will revert you and you may continue your edit war with them. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:59, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Naming conventions for German teams

Please look at the way the teams are named inside the articles linked from the following categories you will see the correct common names:

Notably, it is the Germany National Football team, not the German National Football team; VfB Stuttgart, not Stuttgart; VfL Wolfsburg, not Wolfsburg. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:19, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
