Editing Errors

[edit]

Hello Wikipedia community. I would like to apologize for my AGF violations. They were, in fact, edits made by a newcomer, and without full understanding of the Wikipedia rules. I thank you for bringing this matter to my attention and I can assure you these errors will not happen in the future. Dargen (talk) 12:09, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Dargen. I am concerned that the links to the finduslaw site you are adding to articles may not accord with Wikipedia practices, given the advertising on the linked pages and the public availability of US laws in other sources. You should express your thoughts on the matter here, at the discussion I have just opened.

No doubt your edits were in good faith, but as the laws are otherwise available, the links may not be needed.

Thank you. Kablammo (talk) 14:51, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, these links are inappropriate for Wikipedia according to our relevant guidelines. I note that the finduslaw.com site is run by an employment law firm, http://deskinlawfirm.com/ . Such commercial links are not permitted, particularly when there are plenty of non-profit government or academic sites that post the full text of U.S. federal statutes online. Please stop adding advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Postdlf (talk) 15:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have ignored my original post, have not contributed to the discussion linked above, and continue to add inappopriate external links. Please stop now or your account may be blocked. Thank you. Kablammo (talk) 15:40, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, I am volunteering for finduslaw. I will talk with them about the law firm, but from what I understand they sell advertising space on their website like FindLaw or many other legal resources. I will let you know … Dargen (talk) 15:45, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
