George Orwell has been semi-protected so that only established users can edit it. Accounts need to be at least four days old to edit articles that are semi-protected. It's usually due to persistent vandalism from new users who have a "problem" with the article or its subject, but it's usually rescinded after a few weeks.In any case, when your account is four days old, you'll be able to edit it. In the meantime, you can request any changes on the article's discussion page. For more information on page protection and the like, see Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy. Hope that helps! Reverting[edit]

To revert is nice and simple - you'll find it listed in a how-to guide at WP:REVERT#How to revert. That should answer all your questions - hope that's OK! Don't forget you can sin your posts like I do by typing ~~~~. the key is just above # on a Uk English keyboard - probably other languages too. Eleland[edit]

I am sorry if I have placed thsi note in the wrong spot. I m very inexperienced with Wikipedia. I was enthralled by Wikipedia. Initially. That is until I met Eleland. I noticed that you had some interesting discussions with Eleland regarding CAMERA. Eleland engineered a small article which I contributed some information to be deleted. He organised a "kangaroo court" made duplicitous unfounded claims and then set up a false consensus.

The Article was on Ed O'Loughlin Fairfax publishing MidEast correspondent. The said individual has a unfortunate habit of mixing reporting and commentary. He was amongst the candidates for this year's HR.com dishonest reporter award - despite being in the Australia only catchment area - so you can imagine the quality of his journalism.

Anyway Eleland did a great job of protecting him and got the article deleted.

So I studied Eleland a little.

I've looked at over 100 of his posts on the Arab Israel conflict. More than 95 were directly anti-Israel. His modus has been generally to unfairly rubbish the references of the pro-Israel side. In this way he has undermined many many articles.

Personally I don't care what his opinion is, but when he uses his editorial power and influence at Wikipedia to falsely invalidate, delete, manipulate etc. I think there is a problem.

Wikipedia is, I am afraid, beginning to read like Eleland wrote the script.

Can anything be done?

Sorry to keep bothering you (reply)[edit]

I have been using the Talk: page of an article, responding to other editors, but I'm not sure if they can see what I am typing, none of them seem to be responding to me. Also, one of them keeps claiming that a particular website is a "hate group" or a "hate site". It seems absurd to me, and possibly libelous, but I don't know what the Wikipedia rules are about this. Does Wikipedia have a list of hate sites, or a page where it explains what is considered a hate site? Sorry to keep bothering you, but you've been very helpful in the past. On some articles, the talk page doesn't get used as much as it should. They're not ignoring you, but if you're trying to contact a particular editor it might be best to leave a message on their talk page, to make sure they get the notification. As for hate sites, there isn't a definitive list - what I consider a hate site might be considered a fan site by others! Hate sites shouldn't be explicitly removed - the general guideline for external links is at WP:EL. I can see that the page is probably Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions - Looking at the history of the article, it's being edited by people with obvious views about Israel - PalestineRemembered (talk · contribs) obviously has a biased viewpoint, by his username alone! The discussion on the talk page is heated and if you want my advice, I'd sit back and just observe it for a while. Disputes happen a lot on Wikipedia, and I think your side is winning this one! Again, you've just got to sit it out. I'm very close to locking the article altogether because of the edit-warring - I can't really get involved, sadly, as User:Eleland and me have already crossed paths because of his edits on Palestine-related articles. Things seem to have calmed down slightly - a compromise may just have been reached. Take a look at the history - both sides have come to a conclusion of sorts. Do you agree with it? It's.. complicated. Articles like this are often edited by people from the Palestinian/Transjordanian areas, so feelings and tensions get transferred onto the talk page. Anything said on the talk page is an opiniu0on, and as such we don't need to worry about libel too much. My advice: avoid the extremism, stick to your guns; but try to avoid conflict. I don't suppose you're likely to get much of a response on the talk page, you seem to be the only editor who doesn't have a hateful opinion! As for the links:

A summary of how Wikipedia decides what can be included as a source for an article can be found at WP:RS, although I'm not sure you'll find it much help, sorry!
Dispute resolution is at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. That page will help you find anything to do with dispute resolution. Start at the top, work your way down!
As for deciding what's appropriate for inclusion... That's really up to the editors. Unhelpful, I know!

editing plant evo devo[edit]

Hi David, You have been making some changes to the Plant evo devo page. it would be really helpful if you mention the major changes you made on the discussion page. will help in deciding what to throw and what to retain.

thats not a problem at all. i couldnt make out what changes you have made (and the comparing versions utility is kinda messy). also, i have been thinking about making the entry a little more interesting and precise. so, was just curious

Mediation of Causes of the 1948 Palestinian exodus[edit]

David - that mediation includes JaapBoBo and GHcool as parties - you and I are not parties.

Furthermore, your contributions appear to be right out in the left park - Finkelstein is a giant in the fields he's entered. His "The Holocaust Industry" has a hugely respectable 69 cites in Google Scholar, and his thesis is now being proved in court - Oct 2007 - Tel Aviv District court judges convicted (Attorney Israel) Perry of aggravated fraud, embezzlement, obstruction of justice and violation of insurance laws. ........ "This is a case of systematic, well-planned fraud". PR^talk 20:31, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And there's more - Finkelstein has now made two of Israel's defenders look pretty sick - in 2003 Alan Dershowitz promised "I will give $10,000 to the P.L.O. in your name if you can find historical fact in my book that you can prove to be false." - Finkelstein immediately provided a clear cut example, Dershowitz stated in his book "That between 2,000 and 3,000 Arabs fled their homes" (quoting Morris). Morris actually said "About 200,000 to 300,000 Arabs fled their homes".

Dershowitz, caught with his pants down, has not paid the money. Instead, he responded with an allegation about Finkelstein's mother that is quite breathtakingly nasty and patently false - but, being a lawyer, he knows is not actionable, because Finkelstein's mother is dead. Those of us on the side-lines, however, are not going to take the side of the bully after he's been caught cheating. PR^talk 20:31, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
