Final Article topic

[edit]

I decided to do my final edits on Harley-Davidson's new engine that came out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-Davidson_Milwaukee-Eight_engine

  • There is a lot of information missing, as well as only 2 links to references.
  • I plan on adding to the summary of the engine and talking about how its only the third new engine design that has been built in over 100 years
  • I can make a table comparing the older models to the new models.
  • There are more sources and information out there about it
  • Give out some reviews and opinions of people out there in a small section of the page
  • Add a history header and add information about the history of the engine and the reasons why they made a new one
  • Add a section about the making and design of the engine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidmechura (talkcontribs) 15:41, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Draft

[edit]

Harley Davidson's Milwaukee-Eight engine is the ninth generation of the "big twins" engine, but its only Harley's third all-new Big Twin in 80 years.

Research and Development"

Harley conducted interviews in seven cities and over 1,000 people were asked to outline what they would like to see in the next line of touring bikes. Thanks to these interviews, Harley was able to find places to improve on and things to focus on. The biggest issues to be improved were the power, heat and vibrations. This is were Harley's new Milwaukee-Eight engine comes into play. Not only was power increased, but they were able to keep the range and consumption similar to the older Twin Cam. Harley went on to reduce the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) by 100° F, allowing for a more comfortable ride. This was possible by the relocation of the hot catalytic converters further from the cockpit, as well as introducing a better water cooling solution. Another problem with some fans was the vibrations and therefore Harley reduced the vibrations by 75% to create a perfect median between the hardcore fans and new Harley owners. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidmechura (talkcontribs) 15:42, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
