American Rivers[edit]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. —David Levy 21:57, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ddotson. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, please read our plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

Everyone must follow our conflict of interest (COI) and neutral point of view policies. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to accidentally add overly-flattering or overly-disparaging content. If you have a close connection to a subject, you are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject. But you must make sure that your edits are verified by reliable sources and are unbiased.

Here's a partial summary of our plain and simple conflict of interest guide:

  • Be transparent about your conflict of interest.
  • Do not edit articles about yourself, your business, or your competitors.
  • Post suggestions and sources on the article's talk page, or create a draft in your user space.
  • Your role is to summarize, inform and reference, not promote, whitewash, or sell.
  • If writing a draft, write without bias, as if you don't work for the company or personally know the subject.
  • Get us to review your draft.
  • Work with us and we'll work with you.

Please read the whole guide. Please see also Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:Autobiography.

Thank you. —David Levy 22:57, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David Levy, thank you for sending the COI page. I have updated my own page to reflect the COI. Can you help me understand what beyond the missing COI note on my editor page was unacceptable about the last version of the American Rivers page? I see it has been removed again. I'm trying to figure out what I need to do. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddotson (talkcontribs) 19:58, 11 March 2013‎ (UTC)‎[reply]
You've been creating the article at the title "American rivers" (note the capitalization). This probably is because our software is automatically sending you there when you type "American Rivers" in the search box. (This occurs when a page with the typed capitalization doesn't exist and one with different capitalization does.)
I recommend that you create a draft of the proposed article at User:Ddotson/American Rivers and initiate a discussion (in which you explain your affiliation and offer the draft for review) at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cooperation/Paid editor help.
I hope that this is helpful. —David Levy 06:02, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
