Just wanted to send a note of thanks for your great contribution to the Classification Office page. I'll move the page later today, and make some additional changes. I was wondering if you had any sources on the name change? Can't see anything online when I google... Nauseous Man (talk) 06:23, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Nauseous Man Thank you for your very kind note, and for your offer to move the page 🙂
The name change reflects branding and common usage over (at least) the last two years (eg 1, eg 2, eg 3). I had in mind the first bulletpoint on the relevant naming conventions page: "Use official names ... unless an agency is almost always known by an acronym or different title (DARPA)."
While the official name of the office is still "Office of Film and Literature Classification" (as set out by statute), the statute itself only uses the official name seven times but uses "Classification Office" more than 300 times. Also, the two names are equated in section 2 (under "Classification Office means..."). To recognise this, I was thinking that the statutory name would remain in the first sentence of the page, as it appears now.
Happy for any feedback! Delegate1635 (talk) 22:10, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Delegate1635: I've been bold and made the move, because your arguments are convincing and I think it more closely follows wikipedia policy. The page still needs a lot of work, which I might do over the next week or so. Thanks for this! Nauseous Man (talk) 22:15, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
