Notability of Shaun Farr[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Shaun Farr, by Rich257 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Shaun Farr seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Shaun Farr, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 12:39, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Turning Point Reception[edit]

Yor example doesn't make sense. The user opinion rating on Metacritic isn't used in reception sections either. Metacritic and Gamerankings are used only for their compilations of reviews, not for any user rating they may have, as that very likely has nothing to do with the quality or gameplay of the game. Take the user rating system of IGN.com: before IGN released their review for Turning Point, with a score of 5.0, the user rating hovered around 8.0 or so. Within 24 hour of the review being published, at least 50 other users submitted thier scores, which brought the user score down to 5.6 (the last time I saw it). This shows that any fan reception is inherently biased either for or against a game, since several people who disliked this game decided to sabotage the rating. Now you may own the game and like it, and that's fine; I have the game myself, and can't understand the low scores from reviewers. However, Wikipedia isn't some kind of video game site for fans to rally under. Fan reception may be acceptable in movie articles (I personally don't edit movie articles, so I don't know for sure), but I know it isn't accepted in video game articles. If you can find a reliable review (not written by a biased fan) of the game with a high rating, then of course it will be added into the article. I'm only following the policies and guidelines of WP here; if fan reception could be added to VG articles, then I would add it.  Comandante Talk 18:45, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here are some examples of some higher-profile VG articles, none of which have fan reception per policy:

If Turning Point is to ever become a quality article in WP, then it must follow such standards as these.  Comandante Talk 18:53, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
