Didgeridoo

[edit]

Hello,, thanks for your edit to the Didgeridoo article. I've made the following changes to it:

  • I've removed two out of the three external links you added (a forum and a commercial site, respectively), and another forum link that was already there. See the external links guidelines. As for DidgeridooDojo (which I assume is your site?), it seems OK to me ... though I don't know anything about didgeridoos – the article is only on my watchlist in case of vandalism.
  • I've copyedited your text about didgeridoo beatboxing (what a neat trick!) and added a reference to Blue Peter, an independent source that discusses this technique. Instead of referencing your own sites, it would be far better to reference the reliable sources (books, magazines, etc – but generally not forums or blogs) that you have used to make the lessons. VisualEditor isn't very good at dealing with references at the moment anyway ... it's better to use the old editor (activated by the "Edit source" link ... see Help:Referencing for beginners for more details.

Also keep in mind that you appear to have a conflict of interest regarding DidgeridooDojo due to your username, so it probably wouldn't be a good idea to make any more edits regarding the site (though adding info about didgeridoos would be fine). Also, usernames containing names of organisations are against policy]] and may result in a block. I'm not going to block you, but I'd advise you to change your username as soon as possible, if you plan to continue editing Wikipedia. Graham87 01:56, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update and message. I do apologize for adding extra links. I'll create a new account under my name. This was my first time using Wikipedia and I should have read through ALL the guidelines. Sorry about that. Thanks for the edits.
I, and my team, have different specialities with the Didgeridoo and other similar instruments. I should have linked specifically to the pages and videos where our team members talk about and explain how to use those different techniques. Yes, I am part owner in didgeridoo breath as well, which is a site that has info, but primarily meant for selling didgeridoos and instruments.
I'll gather more specific information and not link back to those sites like that. Sorry again and I appreciate the help and good spirits.
Is this just a message wiki between us or is this editing live for all to see as well?
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by DidgeridooDojo (talkcontribs) 03:16, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No worries; there's no way a new user can be expected to memorise all our policies and guidelines! Yes, deep-linking to your videos and the like is good (Wikipedia appreciates well-targeted links). Creating a new account would also be fine.
Yes, these messages are publicly visible. If you'd like to contact me privately, use this form to get in touch with me by email. I've moved your message below mine and indented it once (I've further indented my reply to your message). See Help:Introduction to talk pages for more information on how talk pages work on Wikipedia.
