Welcome. You need to provide the sources for the data you are adding to this template. All information on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable. That is why I reverted your change three days ago and today. I have nothing against either updating the estimates or adding estimates for the metropolitan areas, but those estimates need to come from reliable sources and they have to be from roughly the same time. That is why the metropolitan data was removed last year, it came from many sources and in some cases was made up by the editor adding together small city populations near each of these large cities. Ideally, one source would have both the city and metro populations for these cities. Next best would be two sources from about the same time; one for the city population and one for the metropolitan figures.
