Information icon Hello, I'm 73.17.21.143. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Gemstones, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 73.17.21.143 (talk) 21:24, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Caution - conflict of interest

[edit]

Your edits which are limited to adding images from the World of gems website indicate a WP:conflict of interest. Please explain. Vsmith (talk) 23:37, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The World of gems website is my own website and it is a information website for gem collectors. All pictures are my own work and all gems are from my own collection. I only want support wiki with pictures of faceted gemstones. But if there a problem or conflict with what ever I can stop my support for wiki. I am not a gemstone trader, I am a collector!!!!! Don´t delete my pictures or delete all and my support for wiki is finished for all time. Sorry for my english, my german is better :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by DonGuennie (talkcontribs) 01:34, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. I'm glad there is no commercial connection. Including the website in the image names remains a promotional problem even without a commercial aspect, quite simply we don't use Wikipedia to promote our own stuff - commercial or not. If you were to rename your image files without the G-EmpireTheWorldOfGems bit - there would be no problem. If you do that - I will not remove the images and judge them only on their quality. Would you be willing to do that on your commons files? Vsmith (talk) 02:03, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm ... please explain this Artikelnummer/article number: GE-4438XP | Onlinepreis / Price: 49.99 Euro ... seems it is for sale. Vsmith (talk) 02:16, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Vsmith, 1. all my pictures I sent to the "Permissions Commons-Team" before I use it on wiki. There was no problem with the file name. No Admin has a problem before only you. 2. You want I upload all pictures again? Sorry I not have time for that. For future uploads, I can consider your comment. 3. Yes in the moment I sell some stuff from my jewelry collection. But I not sell gemstones from my collection. And don`t worry I sell my stuff on ebay. 4. So let's stay realistic it´s only the file name... I uploaded the pictures about one or two year before and my website traffic was not exploded because I published some of my pics here. The traffic comes from google pictures and facebook! 5. I give my work and the license on the pics for free to wiki. And yes, I want if someone use my work on a other website I want that they show the name of my website. 6. When I put the website name in the picture description only then I would understand your deletions. 7. Please undo the deletion of the axinite and lawsonite pics!

I want to support the wiki project with pics of faceted gemstones that`s all... And there are not so many collectors which make pictures of their gemstones to give them to wiki. And if you want that here are only pictures of the commonly known gemstones then delete my work. But if you want to support that project with rare and exotic gem varieties then let me make my work. But for FUTURE uploads I will think about the file name. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by DonGuennie (talkcontribs) 08:55, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, but as long as your advertisment is in the image name the images are in violation of Wikipedia policies, we are not here to promote our own stuff. Vsmith (talk) 15:14, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I will change it when I have time. Have a nice weekend...
