Also, here's some of my experience that might be helpful: for replying to others' comments, it is customary to put a colon first so that your comment is indented, and others see that it's a reply, not a new thread. It might also be good to add something to your user page so that your username turns blue (an indication that you are a committed editor, IMO). And for replying to me, please use {{u|Thomas Meng}}, so that I get a notification. You can always reach me via my talk page or email if you need any help. Hope you enjoy editing!
