Adding photos[edit]

I can help you add photos, if you like. Badagnani 19:08, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the left, under the "Search" box, you'll see a link labeled "Upload file." Click that, then in the "Source filename" box add the photo file from your computer that you want to add. Then you'll need to give the photo a name, in the box below. Then you should add as much info about the photo as possible.

Finally, you'll need to add a suitable copyright tag. For photos on Wikipedia, it is preferred that, although the photographer and/or estate retains the copyright to the photo, it be released for all forms of future use, re-use, or alteration (including commercial use). Attribution to the photographer and/or estate can be specified. Here is an example of such a tag: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:SopraninoSax.jpg and here's another: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:The_Chandrawat_Palace.jpg

Alternatively, the most preferred license, the GFDL, may be added. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:DotorimukWWOSauce.jpg Others include PD (public domain) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Bibimbap_mixed.jpg and Creative Commons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Korean.food-Bibimbap-02.jpg

Just see which you'd like to go with. "Fair use" is generally not being accepted on Wikipedia, as it doesn't permit free commercial use (only scholarly use), something that Wikipedia does allow.

Please let me know if you need any additional help with any of these steps. Badagnani 19:30, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You don't want to copy and paste the photo, but select the photo file by clicking "Browse" when in the "Upload file" page. You browse through your computer this say, finding the photo you want, then click on that file, and it will be added to the box. Then give it a name, add a description and copyright tag, and you're done. Badagnani 20:43, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

JOSH WHITE[edit]

TO: WIKIPEDIA EDITOR AT THIS MOMENT (12:50 am May 22, 2007)

FROM: DOUGLAS YEAGER, MANAGER OF THE ESTATE OF JOSH WHITE AND THE ARCHIVAL BIOGRAPHER OF JOSH WHITE.

Within the past few hours I have been adding verifiable Josh White biographical content and polishing the grammer and sentence structure of the piece. In the middle of making a change and saving the change, an Alert comes up that someone else is editing the piece and there is a conflict. I then went back to make one more polish and save again. This time, to my horror, the other person caused an entire section ==Josh White and The Roosevelts== to be deleted, leaving half of the previous section ==1930s and 1940s== attached to the second half of what used to be ==Josh White White and The Roosevelts==. Many sentences just disappeared! Even though I found the changes still correct and noted within my edited version I repeatedly was blocked from saving my changes. The ===Josh White and The Roosevelts== section is still missing and was deleted.

Why I ask have you done this?

Most concerned,

Douglas Yeager Josh White Estate Archival Biographer.

Hyde Park sites[edit]

The mansion and library/museum seem to be distinct sites within Hyde Park, New York. See Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. Badagnani 01:30, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
