Introduction[edit]
Nestled in the heart of ann arbor lies one of the best burger joints in america, "Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger". The establishment sits on the corner of Packard and Division St, just a block away from the bustling campus U of M. Founded over 50 years ago, the establishment is easily considered a landmark to travelers and locals alike. Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger has been featured on various news outlets including TV and local newspaper reviews, allowing its unique reputation as a burger joint to extend to other locations out of Ann Arbor, attracting people from all over the world.Having survived the implications of the great depression, Krazy jim's is an example of the loyalty and overall good quality of what it means to be a succeeding business in america, the fans of their famous burgers will continue to eat and grow.
History[edit]
Founded in 1953 by a man named Jim "Krazy Jim" Shafer with the slogan "Cheaper Than Food" that has been for 50+ years. Shafer was the owner up until 1992, when Rich Magner, Returned to takeover the business. Rich was a previous employee for Jim from 1969-74 that created the Blimpy Burgers' polar bear mascot that you may see outside the storefront every winter.
Recognition[edit]
Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger is well known in the ann arbor/ypsi, MI area already but they are also known on an international scale. Being seen on the episode of "Diners, Drive-ins, and dives:Blimpy Burger" brought more light to the restaurant. The show can be watched on youtube.com and is a 5-minute run through of the restaurant, meeting the manager, and all the goods served there from the burgers to the 2-day prepared union rings. They have also premiered on the Food network and have a 4-minute video that is much similar to the first video. Blimpy Burger also has there own website, Blimpyburger.com and has had plenty acknowledgement from others on the web and in newspapers throughout Ann Arbor.
Ordering[edit]
The ordering style here is something different. Very similar to an assembly line, there are a few rules you should follow when in line at blimpy burgers when in line. 1. Always grab a tray. 2.Avoid anything that isn't a burger for your main menu 3. Don't order the cheese when you order your burger. 4. Order condiments after burger is cooked.
