Comparative Local Government SYSTEM

This sudbject has to do with the varous local government system in the world. The French system of local administration, the USA system of local administration and the socialist/sovient system of local government addministration. Ekechi (talk) 09:50, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The French SYSTEM:- It is not unusual to start discussing the french system of local government by pointing out from the out-set that the level of decentralisation involved in it, oth in terms of the strutural diferntiation of powers of the local government, is limited. In other words, emphasis in the French system is not usually on the distribution of political power. Rather, it is on administrative decentralisation. It is due to this limited nature of the scope of decntralisation in this system that writers in the field of public administration, including Harold F. Alderfer (1964:1-160, have described it (the french system of local government) as the local arm of the central government. It is for the same reason that they have usually placed it under the deconcentration category of decentralisation.

Thus, the French system of local governhment trives better under a fairly centralised system of national administration as is often observed in the national administrative framework of most former french colonies that have adopted the system.
