Plot summary
[edit]Hi there, though I know you're trying to be helpful here and here, but a few things.
- Plot sections should not exceed 700 words per WP:TVPLOT. This version was over 1000 words. Excessive length can constitute a derivative work, which presents copyright concerns.
- Plot should not be written from the outside looking in. We don't need editorials like "The 2 hour 22 minute movie opens", "For the most part, the first fifty minutes of the movie focuses on", "About half way through the movie", "The reaming 25-30 minutes of the movie". Just write what the story is about. "At the Ongole Municipal Corporation, Gaddala Gunta Radha's mother is told about a fight in the village of Chirrikurapadu." The extra editorials are distracting and just add unnecessary words. See Avengers: Endgame#Plot as an example of what we're going for.
- Per WP:SPOILER we do not censor content. It is expected that a plot summary will convey the most important aspects of the film, which would be the beginning, middle and end of the film. That's the whole point of having a plot summary. So please include the end if you're going to bother writing a plot summary.
Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:40, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for trimming the section, but I don't understand these changes.
- You wrote "There is no couple of visits to the medical shop there is one." I didn't add any content about there being "a couple of visits". The text read "a couple visits", which to me sounds like we're talking about a couple--i.e. a man and a woman. This would make sense, since they're buying contraceptives. So you appear to have misinterpreted this. Also, I didn't add that content. It was already in the article prior to your edits here.
- Per WP:FILMPLOT,
"Do not include actors' names in the plot summary, as it is considered redundant to the "Cast" section.
Yet you restored that content with no clear justification. - You restored the pointless "In the opening scene", which is completely unnecessary.
- You restored the "boss man"'s height, which I don't particularly care about, but also don't quite understand why it's relevant, or we need to both include his height and describe him as massive, as if we couldn't tell that 195cm would be tall.
- It's also unclear why you prefer the phrasing "boss man", which is vague and could describe the owner of a company, vs. "gang boss", which is far more specific.
- It's also unclear why you want to describe the "boss man" as "vengeful", when four words later we use the word "revenge", which would certainly be the characteristic of someone who is vengeful. Why do we need repetitious language?
- If you think that there are no further improvements that could be made to that prose, then maybe there's no reason for us to discuss it, but it's still really flawed from my perspective, so I'm flagging it with a cleanup template so other editors can take a look at it. Hi Cypoidbomob and thanks for your comments. I appreciate your advice and I apologise for my misunderstanding of your "a couple visits"...my bad. Nevertheless, the couple DID NOT visit the medical shop. They drove up on a scooter and she even asked him why he was stopping there. He replied to get a bottle of water and went in shop by himself. He buys the water and some condoms. This entire scene, including the rape, is 3 minutes long. Please don't take this the wrong way, but several of your previous edits [eg. Sashi was beheaded and not Radha or that Radha was to apologize to Sashi instead of Sashi agreeing to apologise to Radha] suggests that you haven't seen the movie and making plot edits without even having watched the film. If you had watched it, I apologise for my assumption. If not, then your opinion is just that - an opinion on something you hadn't even seen and without facts. Too wikipedia readers and film viewers, the opening scene is essential because it ties to the ending. The medical shop and subsequent rape is essential because it was Sashi and his gang that did the rape and later raped Guna's girlfriend. The SIZE of Radha is important to anyone who actually watches this because he is very large and incredibly intimidating man. And he's called "boss man" because that's the term they use in the movie and how they continuously say "boss" throughout the film...even Sashi calls Guna "boss". Again, I apologise if my assumption is incorrect; however, your edits are too off base to suggests otherwise. If you would want the community to view this and your opinions [not facts] that is fine. I now understand the 700 word limit. But is there a policy on writing something that DOES NOT even occur? If not, there should be such a policy because saying something is "pointless" without foundation is... Last, thank you for bringing the 700 word limit to my attention. - I haven't seen the film, and I didn't add any plot content. This editor got the ball rolling in March 2020. I only tried to tailor and trim unnecessary content. You can describe someone as "physically intimidating" without calling them massive 6'4" (195 cm). As a reader who has not seen the movie I start to wonder how we know how tall the person is--did someone measure him?--and then I wonder what bearing that has on the rest of the story. Intimidating seems to communicate it well. "Boss man" might be what the character is affectionately called in the film, but describing someone as a "gang boss" communicates what role the character plays, which "boss man" does not. We're not trying to give the reader a 1:1 experience of watching the film, we're summarising the key details. Any other nuances can be absorbed by watching the film. Thanks again. I've been having a bad day and hope my comments are taken out of context. I like the "physically intimidating" description much better than "massive". I'll make the edit. I didn't want to call him a "gang boss" because he is a businessman and also into politics. Henc, as they keep using "boss" in the movie... By the way, in terms of describing him as 6'4" I'm sure readers can figure out we know who the actor is... Thanks again :) Elvis1260 (talk) 01:37, 16 August 2020 (UTC)Elvis1260Elvis1260 (talk) 01:37, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
Copyright stuff
[edit]Re: this, you can't copy/paste content that you find on the internet into Wikipedia. There are copyright laws that we have to follow. All prose content must be written from scratch in your own words. Only in some cases are we allowed to use quotations, but we can't base the bulk of an article on them, especially when we could watch the film and describe what we saw in our own words.
Also, if you're having trouble understanding referencing, it's not that difficult. See Referencing for Beginners. When you add content, a reference goes directly after the sentence that is being supported, and the quickest, laziest way to do that is at the end of the sentence paste a URL between two reference tags like the following example:
- Keith Uhlich of The Hollywood Reporter described the origin of Wigstock as an "inebriated jape", after a number of drag queens staged a spontaneous show in a New York park. <ref>https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/wig-review-1202425</ref>
A fancier way is to use the citation tool that is built into the editing window. You click on Cite > Templates > Cite web (for example) and a form will allow you to propagate the relevant fields. If you want to use a reference more than once, give the reference a name, like HRWigreview, and the next time you need to use this reference to support a piece of information, at the end of that sentence add <ref name="HRWigreview /> like:
- Uhlich also said "Blah blah blah blah."<ref name="HRWigreview />
Hope that helps. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:12, 16 August 2020 (UTC) Thanks again. Ive been having a bad day and hope I didn't upset anyone. Thanks for your help Elvis1260 (talk) 01:29, 16 August 2020 (UTC)Elvis120Elvis1260 (talk) 01:29, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
