Your username and userpage[edit]

I've removed inappropriate information from your userpage, to save you from various kinds of spamming, etc. In addition, questions have been raised about the name of your editor account. Could you please explain it? --Orange Mike | Talk 15:13, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Username block[edit]

The account with this username has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because of concerns that the chosen username may not meet our username policy.
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, or misleading. Also, usernames may not end with the string "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. Keep in mind, though, that creating a new account is much faster and easier.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

This is not an appropriate use for wikipedia. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 15:58, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Unblock[edit]

{{unblock|Hello, Tony. I am an university student taking a course on the Finite Element Analysis and the professor runs the class (HW turn in, class notes, etc.) with media Wiki. We are supposed to create a user namespace with these directions: course_number.semester.team_name.last_name, where our team name is delta_6. I did so, and then saw that my page was blank, so I just filled it up with my info so that my teammembers can contact me, nothing else. Please let me know what I can do so that I comply with WP's rules. However, I cannot choose another username since it is required of us to follow the given template. Also, I do not know how I violated WP's rules. Please help me unblock my username! Thank you Tony.}}

Are you sure that you are supposed to make this account on wikipedia instead of a different wiki site that your professor gave you the address for? --Random832 (contribs) 01:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've unblocked you. The username isn't really inappropriate. Perhaps write a better explanation of your assignment on your user page so this doesn't happen again? Apologies for any inconvenience. --MZMcBride (talk) 01:23, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
