Permission log (see user page):
1. Ipromise may start a user page but no article writing today. Familyreview (talk) 07:06, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
2. Ipromise may look at Wikipedia for 45 mintues during the next 5 hours. Only 2 edits are permitted with an additional 1 or 2 more to correct any spelling errors in those original 3 edits. Familyreview (talk) 01:52, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- The 3rd edit was an improvement on the article. However, the first edit may make some people mad if they deem it negative information. Think before making that type of edit and, if there is discussion, think of the opposing side's view. If the opposing side is rude and possibly removes it with snide comments or false accusations, such as "vandalism", do not become mad and consider any subsequent steps carefully. In some cases, consider backing down, particularly if it is an administrator. Administrators sometimes can do rash things because of inexperience in life. Ipromise may look at Wikipedia for 45 minutes tomorrow and make 5-10 edits. Attempts to get to know others is permitted within the 10 edits (choose them carefully if you do). Familyreview (talk) 05:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
3. Up to and including Thursday evening, you may look at Wikipedia 3 times (2 days: no wikipedia) for 45 minutes at a time. You may add stuff 15 times. Consider adding no more than 7 times a day so that you will have some left for other days. You must consult with me beforehand for anything controversial.Familyreview (talk) 01:02, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Barnstar
[edit]To Ipromise, I award this this barnstar ( * ) for following our agreement. For the next week, limit your use of Wikipedia to 30-45 minutes at a time and 3-5 days of the next 7 days. Continue to exercise restraint and write well, not get into fights with others. Familyreview (talk) 04:35, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
You have done well. Keep up the good work! Familyreview (talk) 06:21, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Conditional approval
[edit]Some recent edits are borderline acceptable. The Super Bowl edits were generally ok. However, one administrator didn't want up to the second updates. He could have blocked you permanently. This is a judgement call whether to listen to an administrator if they want to restrict you from doing a permitted thing. Wikipedia does not fully allow freedom as administrators have great power. Treat an administrator like you would a teacher. Teachers are often right but not all the time.
Some of the policy comments should be thought through more. Some were expressed well but some touched a raw nerve. Some people misunderstood you and thought that you wanted all checkuser data to be public. I think you meant that if a user requests a checkuser by email, they should not be able to fish or ask different checkusers until they got one to agree.
I would suggest not getting into this policy things or doing it very slowly. You'll gain wisdom by doing this. Familyreview (talk) 06:44, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Be careful about talking about other users who are accused of being sockpuppets. People may think you are also a sock. Nicely documented edit about Alison Krauss. Familyreview (talk) 05:18, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Contino
[edit]It may be a good idea to continue with this instead of Ipromise. Instead of arguing with the administrator with a shit list on you, just don't have any contact with him. Familyreview (talk) 06:53, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I saw your edits. What you are saying is entirely reasonable but some of the others are very abrasive. I suggest that you not argue with them. You can be right but still not handle the situation. Wikipedia is a strange place. Some of those people are very aggressive and are bullies. It seems like they want to control the article but just let them. Just stay away from them.
