Brisbane[edit]

Terrible in what sense. Structural? Organised? Everything unlike this...

I appreciate your attempt to organise it to be neater, unfortunately your choice of images is what I find to be what's wrong with it. Having the cathedral take up a more prominent role in the montage with the city view stretched and crushed is not ideal. Also removal of an example of Queenslander architecture (although I'm sure you could find a better image) should 100% be included in any Brisbane montage considering how iconic they are to the city.--Fiftyfires (talk) 11:26, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ashton, I just saw your edits to the montage and I'd like to thankyou for it, it's something I had tried to do in the past yet didn't have the skills for. I think the only possible improvement I could see in it is if the Merivale Bridge was removed (Is it that important to have in the montage anyway?) and replaced with an image of South Bank Parklands. Anyway thankyou again.--Fiftyfires (talk) 11:32, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A while back, there was an image of the Wheel of Brisbane in the South Bank Parklands apart of an old montage, but people voted against its inclusion, so it was removed. Montages are something that must be discussed to death on an article talk page, and they usually cause a lot of derision and are just generally a very divisive topic, particularly with Australian cities. The problem is, so many users have an opinion, but very few an actual vision or drive to create their desired montage. They tend to just be vocal about their complaints, but action isn't forthcoming, unless it's reverting a change. Wikipedia also offers its own structural template for montages, but this involves finding suitable images that actually FIT within the template, and very few fit together. That's why it's best to create them on Photoshop, that way you have the freedom to chose your images, and also make them fit together nicely. Ashton 29 (talk) 08:21, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
