Static Var Compensator[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for your additions to Static VAr compensator, but why did you change the capitalisation of MVAr to Mvar? So far as I am aware, the former is the correct usage. Regards, — BillC talk 21:04, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MVAr - Mega Voltamps Reactive was the old unit. The SI unit for reactive power is the var (VAR is acceptable). It is a unit itself rather than a suffix to voltamps. I used to design SVCs for a living (consultant now) and generally managed to mix and match the old and new definitions much to the chagrin of my boss. MVAr is still used by a large number of people, so I won't think it's the end of the world if you want to keep it. Fireglowe 21:32, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying. I don't feel strongly enough about it to want to change it, so I'm happy to leave it as it is. Again, thanks for taking the time to reply, and welcome to Wikipedia! — BillC talk 22:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the welcome Bill. Hope you don't mind I've used your user page format as a basis for my own. Fireglowe 10:53, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
