Gilbertese

Dear User:

• Gilbertese is the language of I-Kiribati (I- means people from, not language). There is always a capital letter, not like iPhone.
• matatakaro is a wonderful word of Gilbertese, the language is known for the matangare (eye laughing = smile), because the smile is in the eyes, not on the lips. When you speak to an I-Kiribati, the eyes very often reply to your question (for Yes with the brows up). If you do not look the eyes, you will think that they are not polite.
