Thorkell Flett[edit]
Thorkell Flett was an Orcadian chieftan in Westray serving Jarl Paul in the wars against Olivir Rosta for the battles for Orkney. Thorkell fought the main battle against Olivir Rosta which he commanded a ship in person. As the Jarl won he was rewarded by receiving lands in Stroma in which the previous owners kin came and burnt Thorkell alive with nine others in his farmstead. Hafflidi Flett (Thorkell's son) also became a chieftain and served the Jarl. [1] 'Bold text
