Khavar is a Lebanese death/black/experimental metal band. The band was formed in 2018 in Beirut, Lebanon by guitarist Garo Gdanian. Khavar's lineup comprises of guitarists Garo Gdanian and Elias Njeim, drummer Bachir Ramadan, vocalist Kamal El Khoueiry and bassist Cyril Yabroudi.
Garo Gdanian, Elias Njeim and Bachir Ramadan were all three members of a Lebanese death metal band called The Weeping Willow. The Weeping Willow stood strong as one of the most influential and controversial metal bands in Lebanon. With a relentlessly brutal sound and uncompromisingly innovative lyrics, The Weeping Willow helped set the standards for Metal in Lebanon. The Weeping Willow began life in 1996. The Weeping Willow released 4 albums: Garden of Misery, Mentally Decayed, Third Portal and Impale. They played the stage alongside big international bands such as Apocalyptica, Macbeth, Anathema, Moonspell, Katatonia, Grave and Decapitated. In 2018, the members parted ways due to work and life obligations. That's how Garo Gdanian decided to start a new project and named it Khavar. The bassist Cyril Yabroudi used to be the bassist and vocalist of a Lebanese band called Oath to Vanquish. The vocalist Kamal El Khoueiry used to be a member of a band called Element 26.
