Nashik is a historical city of India, which had active revolutionarily activities. Killing of Jackson, the then collector of Nashik, is an important event in the History of Nashik and the Indian revolutionary movement. This was the first revolutionary event of its kind in which took place outside Bengal. It was the result of this event that Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was sentenced to 'Kalapani' in Andaman. The British were shaken and they understood how deep the revolutionary movement has gone and how strong are the feeling of people against the British rule. Anant Kanhere was the hero of this historical event. Jackson was shot dead on 21st Dec 1909, exactly 100 years before. People should know about this forgotten hero and hence this article.
