Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I noticed you are known only as an IP address; that means you are not signed up. To sign up, you only need to click Create account and choose a username and password. You don't need to provide any personal information. If you sign up, you'll have a username that others can use to recognize you and leave you messages on the wiki. You'll be able to sign your name just by typing four tildes (~~~~) when you leave someone else a message. Plus, you (and others) will easily be able to see a list of all your contributions to Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, ask at the Village pump, or feel free to ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- moe.RON talk | done | doing 17:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome! In regards to your question on my talk page, see one of the links in the above message, most likely Wikipedia:Article development and WP:Manual of Style. For examples in this same field, see Hedge (gardening) and Water garden. Maybe try and add a picture or two; either of your own taking or one of Wikipedia:Fair Use. Just make sure to glance over Wikipedia:Copyrights before uploading so you know you aren't violating anything.

If you would like to work on the page, just let me know and I will remove the prod so you may work and it won't get deleted. I know it may seem like a lot of reading, but if you have further questions, feel free to ask. I will help the best I can. Otherwise, if you need help, just edit this page and put {{help}} at the top; someone will be along to help you shortly. Cheers! -- moe.RON talk | done | doing 17:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

>Thanks for the explanation, I've already read a lot about guidelines and stuff but Wikipedia has quiete a learning curve, I'll let you know when the article is expanded so that you can remove the notice.GerardK 11:27, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added wlinks and removed the WP:PROD; current state denotes topic better. Good job. Feel free to ask me if you have any other Wikipedia questions. Cheers! -- moe.RON talk | done | doing 17:23, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion Historic Park

[edit]

Hi GerardK! I've slightly modified your revisions to Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park to eliminate the second link to white garden in accordance with the common interpretation of Wikipedia Manual of Style. The MOS, however, is not clear regarding duplicating links, stating "duplicating an important link distant from a previous occurrence is appropriate", so if you feel that the second link (in the title of Blue and White Garden) should be replaced, please feel free to revert my edit. Best. --CPAScott 12:55, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spam removals?

[edit]

In regards to your message on my talk page: Hey there man, how is it going? Let me know what IP numbers exactly you are referring that made the edits (even if they change) or what pages they have targeted and I will take a look at the edits. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 22:30, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

->Hey, his number seems to change every time he logs in, these are a couple of the number he uses: 66.38.39.180 66.38.39.82 66.38.39.121 66.38.39.35 66.38.39.64 66.38.39.82 66.38.39.75 Thanks, GK

That would be "HER" & "SHE" and those different IP's would indicate dial-up for even a novice. And yes they will keep on changing... BTW I am reading up more on the editorial guidelines and sorry Moeron for any inconveniences thus far. If I mess up, feel obliged to bring it to my attention.

-Hi, thanks for responding. Sorry for being too novice to spot your dial-up connection. If you register an account your edits will become easier to track and it also helps with communications because you will have only one talk page rather then many. It's not mandatory but it's generally recommended. GerardK 15:15, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi GerardK,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
