Your edits on the Martina Big article

[edit]

Hi GermanGermanGerman! I noticed your recent edits on the Martina Big article, and I had a few concerns. For example, in this edit[1], you removed references to her use of the experimental drug "melanotan", removed several references (including a Yahoo News source, which is a reliable source per Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources), and added the source "LadBible" (which is likely not a reliable source per Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_297#LADbible_and_Joe.ie). You left an edit summary stating: "The claim that Big is taking dangerous melanotan injections has been spread by a few media outlets to dramatize Big's story. Big has written several times that this claim is not true. So I use an interview from the Daily Star as a source in which Big explains how she became black." There are several issues. 1. You removed well-sourced information from reliable sources. 2. You replaced them with a non-reliable source (which was LabBible, not the Daily Star, like you noted in your edit summary, which is a "deprecated" source per "Perennial sources"). 3. The non-reliable source you did use doesn't mention the word "melanotan" at all or name any drug; it merely states that she used "a new medicine against skin cancer". Melanotan meets this description as it has, in fact, been researched for skin cancer.[2]

In this edit[3], you removed her birth name, Martina Adam, and a supporting reliable source per perennial sources, New York Daily News, with the edit summary: "The media makes different statements about Big's birth name. The German TV station Sat.1 suggested Big's birth name would be "Groß". Because of the contradictory statements, it is better not to enter a birth name until Big's birth name is clear." I was not able to find Sat.1, or any reliable source to support this claim. There are, however, several other sources to support her birth name being "Adam" (including the Yahoo! News article you removed in the edit I discussed earlier).

In summary, please check the Reliable sources/Perennial sources noticeboard before adding or removing sources, and information supported by those sources. Thanks! Wikipedialuva (talk) 09:45, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
