Verifiability is one of our core policies

[edit]

To answer your question [1], Wikipedia has 3 core content policies. One of them is WP:VERIFIABILITY. You cannot alter or add information anywhere on Wikipedia without citing reliable sources. (When sources disagree, we use WP:DUE balance to figure out what information to include and how to present it.) I hope that clears things up. Ok i will add source to it. Gerogebritgen (talk) 18:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As I mentioned in my latest edit summary, this is a good attempt but a book from 1880 hardly represents current scholarship. And you will generally need to add a reliably source discussion to the main body of the article before altering the info box. It's also generally advisable to discuss on the article talk pages to gain consensus for this type of change. Generalrelative (talk) 19:11, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

First you said add a source which i did now you are saying you don’t like the source? This is showing you have a biased agenda. I will add another source. Gerogebritgen (talk) 13:47, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I came back here to discuss the new source with you, but I now see that you have failed to assume good faith by accusing me of having "a biased agenda". Did you not understand my reason? Do you think it's not even worth acknowledging that I provided one? In any case, you've provided a source from the 1970s (better than the 1880s, sure), with no page number so that others can easily WP:VERIFY, and you've done so in a way that appears to contradict what is written in the articles. Ethiopian–Egyptian War#European involvement states Several foreigners were involved in the war. These include a British adventurer John Kirkham on the Ethiopian side. I'm sure there are several Brits fighting in Ukraine right now, but that will not turn a Ukrainian victory into a Ukrainian-British victory. Surely it takes more than that for Britain to claim partial ownership of a military victory, right? And the Battle of Gura article contains no mention of British involvement at all. That's why I'll be reverting you once again. You can believe that this makes me biased all you want, but saying it on-Wiki is a violation our WP:CIVILITY policy. Go ahead and follow my advice above if you'd like: find current reliable secondary sources, summarize them in the main body of the article (or better yet, bring it to the article talk pages first), and then perhaps you will persuade others that it makes sense to alter the "Result" section of the info boxes. But no matter what else you choose to do, please remember to assume good faith. That is not optional. Generalrelative (talk) 05:53, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
