October 2008

[edit]

Your edit to Perl has been reverted several times by different editors as being opinion. Please stop re-adding it to the article, or you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. — Hex (❝?!❞) 18:51, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, I am just correcting a factual error, and whoever is reverting it is pushing their own incorrect opinion that the usage of "PERL" in all caps is wrong, when the author of the language himself defined the expansion for it, which also appears in the offical documentation, so what more proof is needed? It's not me who is pushing opinion, it's the people who keep changing my edits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Getly (talkcontribs) 19:25, 4 October 2008

24 hour block

[edit]

Because you have once again reverted changes to Perl you are now in contravention of our three-revert rule. As a result, I have blocked you from editing for 24 hours. Please discuss the changes you wish to make to the article on the article's talk page before attempting to make them again. — Hex (❝?!❞) 19:35, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please sign your edits to talk pages by typing ~~~~ at the end of each comment. Thank you. — Hex (❝?!❞) 19:37, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perl semi-protected

[edit]

I have just found and read through your ("Getly" is clearly short for "Gordon C. Etly") recent arguments with members of comp.lang.perl.misc. Please don't spread them across to Wikipedia. This is a separate community with methods and processes for resolving disputes.

As further edits to the article restoring your material have been made by unregistered users, I have blocked any edits to it being made by unregistered users for the next month. As all the edits came from a limited IP range, I suspect they were made by a single person, probably you. I must warn you that if these edits resume, I may have to request a CheckUser investigation to see if they match your username; and that if this is the case, it will be grounds for long-term suspension of your editing privileges.

I highly recommend that you discuss the issue at Talk:Perl. — Hex (❝?!❞) 18:35, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
