Question for administrator[edit]

{{adminhelp}} How do I go about requesting an article be deleted or merged?

See the deletion policy for info about requesting that pages be deleted, and WP:MERGE for info on how to go about merging things. Let me know if you have any further questions :-) Killiondude (talk) 05:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

My edits have been very helpful due to my factual and non-partisan wording. If you have reverted one of my contributions, it was most likely an error on your part. Thank you for your contributions. Help request[edit]

Moved over from Talk:Deal or No Deal (US) models  Chzz  ►  17:43, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

{{helpme}}Mr Admin, do you catch the drift?

Hi there :-)
I've moved this help request over to your own talk pages. It's better to ask for help here, as we can chat, discuss, help you etc.
Now - it seems that Katie Cleary is a redirect to Deal or No Deal (US) models, which is probably fine.
However, you're pointing out the link in Deal or No Deal (US) models to Katie Cleary which, yes, is wrong, so feel free to fix it. I'd suggest just removing the link - ie edit the article, and change "[[Katie Cleary]]" to "Katie Cleary".
It's what we call a 'self-redirect', and you can read about them in Wikipedia:REDIRECT#Self-redirect.
Hope this helps - if you need more help, or want us to make the fix for you, please put another {{helpme}} below, or talk to us live. Best,  Chzz  ►  17:43, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

No significant[edit]

5% of the energy to move a vehicle with people in it is to move the person. Significance of the extra few pounds in the grand scheme of things is a bit of a stretch.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:21, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Right. And I would also add that less than 5% of all art is obesity-related, perhaps less than 5% of politics is obesity-related, yet these subjects are still there. It is important, I think, to have the information there in its entirety to give the reader an uncompromisingly full picture of this choice.
The reader has nothing to lose from knowing about the negative effects of obesity on the environment. To censor this would be wrong. Obesity is much more than a medical condition.
My additions are relevant, and they are cited. --GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 02:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Have asked the opinion of others. Would be good to find the original sources to improve the arguements / refs. --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:48, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I like your welcome screen much better. Maybe we got off on a wrong foot due to the revert you gave me, and also the revert AdjustShift did to my Iraq contribution. It was my first time correcting a wiki page due to the fact it was patently false, and was reverted minutes later which I originally thought was my mistake. Thanks for cleaning up the Iraq contribution, and your explanation. 71.239.179.140 (talk) 21:06, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Block templates[edit]

Sorry, a vandal is a vandal is a vandal, and is worthless --even if they're posting from an Army base. And to assume I have something against people who serve/served is baseless; heck, I'm currently being accused of being biased by some rapper's fan for pointing out that a the musician murdered a veteran. By the way: your thinly veiled physical threat is meaningless and would normally chalk up a warning, but I'm going to assume you need to cool a bit before you actually hit "edit this page". Thanks. --Bobak (talk) 19:09, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

The range-block on the open proxy worked (174.137.53.0/24). No more death threats and vandalism on my user space. I semi-protected some of my user pages but not all of them. Endways, Thank you for looking out for me. I'm going to add you to my friends list. Did you hear about the rain that’s coming here tonight? See this on CBS 2 / KCAL 9. ----Zink Dawg -- 22:04, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Not a problem bro! I just freaking hate seeing bigoted people. It's so annoying seeing people run off on their homophobic tangents. And YES, the rain is here. LOVE the rain. But, California drivers don't know how to drive in it. Haha. I spent an hour on the 405 this morning when it usually takes me up to 30 minutes to get to work. What about you? Love it or hate it? GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 18:38, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Yea, I love the rain. Every time it rains here, I play in it. I love driving in it also. I know how to drive in it. I just spent a few hours in improving the Gang article. Tell me how it looks. Here is a before and NOW. --- --Zink Dawg -- 04:59, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Lookin good! I will suggest, though, that more information is added about gangs in general, as in across the country and all over the world. I've been all over Europe and the Middle East and have also seen it there, it would be interesting to note their patterns as well. Other than that I think you did a great job bro. Haha.... playing in the rain. Guilty. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 17:05, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Response[edit]

Thank you for the nice message. I am trying to do as many things right as I can. As someone told me: You're not a real Wikipedian until you've made lots of mistakes and learned from each of them! This may sound weird. But, Wikipedia is keeping me off the streets. If you read about me. I drop out of the Sureño gang. I decided this was not the way I wanted to live my life. Zink Dawg -- 19:38, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Well I'm glad you're doing better. I have a whole side of my family that are in gangs in Orange County. I disapprove to their faces, but love them just the same because it's their choice. Spending time on encyclopedias is an interesting vice, I must say I'm guilty of it myself. But if it takes wrapping yourself up into knowledge then I can guarantee you that you're better off.
I see you're engaged...Congratulations! By the way, we're working on it :) GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 23:36, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I hope you get engaged soon. After I meet my feonsay, I have changed. I fell in love and I wanted to change for my feonsay. I even moved to a deferent city and stop talking to the homeboys. See, my feonsay is not into the gang stuff and it helps. I needed someone to keep me on the right track. I do care what people think about me because I do not want to be written off as a Sureño who wasted his damn life. We all make mistakes and we all have experienced our own trials and tribulations. I may have lived a life of crime and gang banging which was not beneficial to society. We all have baggage, but I want to be judged on the life that I am creating NOW. I often find myself drinking to relieve myself of the reality of the life i've led, homies i've lost, and the conclusion to my life. when my mental feels like it's going to burst from the stress, frustration, regrets, and reality of things that have happened in my life, i buss open a 40 oz. with every sip that quenches my soul, i allow my nerves to settle, and my mind to wonder. this is how i escape my daily fears. Do i get judged? well, i say do not judge me for wanting to stop the pain i feel for those lost during the war, but judge me for the pain i choose not to cause. I appreciated living somewhere where I do not have to worry about anything.--Zink Dawg -- 19:10, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Edit count[edit]

Your user page shows you've made over 7000 edit on Wikipedia? Your user count shows 291? Paranormal Skeptic (talk) 20:37, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I do believe your comments belong in the free speech box on my front page. Anyway, for someone who clearly has the tools he needs for not being malicious (re: your first userbox), I see it is rather challenging. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 20:41, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're saying here? I looked up your user count, when I saw you had a recent Welcome tag. Your user page states you've made over 7000, and I can only see 291.
As for both my GWOT medals and Iraq Campaign Medals, I received them for a) Being in service post 9/11 b) Going to Iraq c) Going to Iraq during OIF 01-03 (The very first rotation when we launched cruise missiles). That makes me eligible for GWOT, GWOT Exp, and Iraq Campaign Medals. Paranormal Skeptic (talk) 21:05, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
You don't answer to me, I was just making an observation. I just had no idea it is possible to recieve that particular combination participating in only one campaign. As someone who doled out medals and wrote orders I found it hard to believe. But if you're saying it's the truth, that's fine, I was just observing.
Truth be told I had another account. I'd still be using it if I remembered the info. I started editing briefly years ago and just started back up recently after seeing all the politically charged articles. Refer me to all the Wiki rules and regs, but that does nothing. You wanted to know, believe me or don't. I'll do the same. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 21:11, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
After looking over the new layouts of who get's what, apparently, I'm not eligible for both. However, my DD-214 still has all three. I'll just leave it. I wore them to the 4ID welcome home celebration, and I wore them to the 10th Cav Ball post-Iraq.
While I don't really care, I was just curious about the edit count. No big deal, anyone who really cares can see what they need to if they have Twinkle installed. Cheers! Paranormal Skeptic (talk) 21:18, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 90.220.8.86[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on 90.220.8.86 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. GW 10:55, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the support - you have quite the interesting User Page :) A liberal socialist who was in the military and is anti-choice? :P Danflave (talk) 21:44, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Ahhh, "anti-choice" I hate that phrase. It's only a personal opinion, but I think the one thing that should reign supreme in everyone's lives above my opinion should be prerogative. Being anti-choice to me means picketing, when really it's a belief in my head :)
But yes, that's all true. And I was glad to lend my support :) GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 23:56, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Just an uninvolved stranger who has followed the drama, here. I agree that Danflave is owed an apology. FWIW, I noticed you have a "Grammar Nazi" tag on your user page, and I'm good with the use of the term. Just the fact that it exists speaks volumes WRT the discussion, LOL. What really chaps my backside is that some people (you know, the connected) get away with the type of behavior that was exhibited toward Danflave, while others who don't get away with far less. It's disgraceful, and it's bad for the community. I think there should be training requirements for admin types so they don't become...damn...can't even use the word, or I'll get swarmed by them...let's say "badge heavy," as some cops refer to other cops. I mean, some of them close ranks on people and call them trolls, vandals, etc., at a drop of a hat. Of course, people are going to be nasty in response, and the next thing you know, they're blocked. It's even worse if you value your privacy, as I do, and choose not to use an account. If you want a laugh, check out the Wikipedia, "bureaucratic f*ck," and related entries on Encyclopedia Dramatica. Safe and pleasant travels! 12.5.250.137 (talk) 02:43, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I took the whole outburst sort of personally since Dan was replying to something that I had originally said. I can't fathom what the heck is going through the minds of some the easily offended parties that have editing powers here on Wikipedia. There is no logic behind the original "offended party" and certainly the person who jumped into the discussion threatening to ban people from Wikipedia was being something beyond closed minded. The entire display has been unseemly. Lou2u (talk) 05:14, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Anti-French sentiment in the United States[edit]

Well, the entire article isn’t consistent. —Wiki Wikardo 07:50, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Then have at it. Just remember that even articles about America ought not be America-centric, in other words, an article about French Toast shouldn't only be edited by French with their own interests. Wikipedia English is English-centric above all. The point I was making was that the first notice of British style should have set the stage for the rest of the article. But like I said, so long as it's consistent, have at it. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 07:56, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
*rolleyes*
It’s not about sentiments in France, it’s about the United States. France isn’t an English-speaking nation.Wiki Wikardo 08:12, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Not amused. If you don't want to have a grown up conversation I will easily continue to oppose your action. You failed to realize that this issue isn't about France. It isn't about the United States. It isn't about anti-French sentiment in the United States. It's about writing style commonly used on Wikipedia. This conversation doesn't need to drag out as I suspect it will. Again, there exists no compelling reason to convert the writing style. GnarlyLikeWhoa (talk) 08:19, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the belated reply, but thanks for the compliment regarding Talk:2010#Health Care Reform. I admit, exclusion does seem counterintuitive; but I guess my mind has been wiki-warped enough to argue for it anyway. Hi, I hope you don't take my proposing to delete the image the wrong way - or don't get discouraged by it. For an image to be included on Wikipedia, it either needs to be released by the copyright holder under a "free" copyright license or be out of copyright (in general this means created before 1923).
Once in a blue moon it may be possible to use a copyrighted image (see when here). The threshold for this is extremely high.
For more info, including the specific licensing requirements, see Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. --RA (talk) 22:40, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 28[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Same-sex marriage in the United States, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mercer County (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
