No images for en.wikipedia.org wiki

I just downloaded all of the 102 files for the images for en.wikipedia.org through download central and no images show in any articles except the main page. Furthermore, the section 'On This Day' on the main page thinks it is May 1st. It is September 9. In the en.wikipedia.org folder, I have 135 files. It appears that the image files are all in the same folder as the articles. I read somewhere that they should be in a folder named 'file' but I have only a folder named 'data' in the en.wikipedia.org folder.

No images for simple.wikipedia.org wiki

Me again. I have the same problem with images not loading with even the simple.wikipedia.org wiki. But if I am connected to the internet they will load. Another thing I don't understand is why is there a sub-folder called 'anonymous' in the 'user' folder of 'xowa_app_windows_64_v4.6.12.2009'. I don't know, but shouldn't the folder called 'anonymous' be named with my username (account name) on my computer instead?

OK. It's me responding to myself. Xowa sucks. It is so complicated to install. The files are everywhere with ambiguous names. Archived dumps what for? Doesn't anybody want just the latest version? Who would want an old version. The help in Xowa is out of date. Links don't work or have been moved. Too many files to download. Images separate from articles. I cannot find a way to import *.xowa files into a newer version of XOWA. Any new versions of XOWA are setup in a new folder with the version name instead of overwriting the old version. There are so many versions of XOWA available it's dizzying. It also looks like this page has not been active since before 13 06 2020 as the first post shows. So I'm pretty sure mine will never be answered. I did everything by the numbers and wasted time and bandwidth to setup XOWA and the images don't show. When i hover over a link with my mouse i get 'Retrieving data' forever. If the fix is simple, I certainly don't know it. They say to use Download Central and I did. I even downloaded Simple Wiki and it doesn't work. I've tried different things, spent hours and days on this crap and still the same. No immediate help is available. No forums or FAQ for my issues. I can go on and on.... 142.115.215.49 (talk) 17:52, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok since I'm talking to myself...I tried downloading the en.wikipedia.org text wiki with Import Online/Offline. Not easy but i was in the process of uncompressing the files and thought it was done, but it wasn't. It said 'Import in progress' but the status bar was blank. So how does anyone know when the import is done or hasn't crashed? Do we wait and wait...There is no abort button. The text version seems to have overwritten files and now, the text version files that I saw in the wiki folder are gone. The wiki-core.xowa now has a size of 0 bytes. The file-core.xowa file now has a size of 56 bytes. I went back to download central and opened up the details for the articles and re-downloaded both these files with an average download speed of 600KB/sec. Wow, oh how I do not miss the dial-up days. Just finished with that and replaced those files but now I'm missing the left sidebar and still looks like the text version. So there must be more files missing or corrupted. The main thing is I followed every step in the help to set it up. I had an earlier version of XOWA that worked fine but I had only the articles. I needed the images. But I also told myself why not upgrade everything...big mistake.

Looking at 3 hours for a total of 800MB download 142.115.215.49 (talk) 21:50, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
replaced more files. Same thing. BTW I downloaded the XOWA version : xowa_app_windows_64_v4.6.12.2009. From that version is where I downloaded everything. Issues with this version? Who knows cause you can't get any help. After the problems started I found this version : xowa_app_windows_64_v4.6.15.2101. I tried to simply copy over the data to the new version but same problem. No images except if I'm connected to the internet. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of XOWA. And it does not show that these files (or any) were imported. What a nightmare. 142.115.215.49 (talk) 22:23, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
