Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Lennon/McCartney. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 17:13, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, you took down my section on the trademarks of a Lennon/McCartney lyric as a POV. What I said was that it was common practice for them to use the title of their song as the first line of the song. If you look at the famous songs I cited, you will see that this is actually the case and not a point of view. Equally they used the words you, me and I for around half of their lyrics in the first line. Again if you check through their lyrics, you will see this is the case and not a point of view.

Sorry, you acted in good faith, but it is most certainly a point of view. Please read WP:NPOV and WP:NOR. Who decides that it is "common practice"? How many are required to make it common practice? If you say 50%, I might disagree and say it needs 80% (or more) to be "common practice". That is your point of view. And how many uses of the words "you, me and I" are necessary for it to be considered "trademark"? There again, it is your point of view (not to mention the fact that a vast number of songs in general use those words). You have fallen into a very common problem on Wikipedia, which is (with no ill intentions) imposing your interpretation of music (or films, books, etc.) and assuming it is OK to do it if it is obvious to you. You need to find a reliable source that reaches the conclusions that you reached, then cite it in the article (the source you provided did not do most of that). And carefully read WP:NOR, WP:NPOV, WP:V, and WP:SYN before proceeding. Thanks. Ward3001 (talk) 22:56, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
