Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, GraceAG, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was Grace Assembly of God, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! DBigXray 08:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Introductory advice

[edit]

Hi GraceAG. I saw your comments on another user's talk page, and I wanted to explain some things to hopefully make your editing here on Wikipedia better. The truth is, unlike what you state above, you're not actually "the" Editor on Grace Assembly of God. Wikipedia pages can be freely edited by (almost) anyone in the world. And just like you can't control what a newspaper might print about the church, you can't control what is in the Wikipedia article on the church. In fact, we generally recommend that people who are employed by or otherwise closely connected with an organization not edit that Wikipedia article (you can see the details at WP:COI), because such editors usually find it difficult to simultaneously comply with our rules on neutrality and original research.

If you want to keep editing Wikipedia, there's a few things you should do. First, you'll need to change your username. We don't allow editors to have a username that looks like the represent a company. You can request a name change at WP:CHS. Second, if you want to give input on the Grace Assembly of God page, the best way for you to do so is at the article's talk page, Talk:Grace Assembly of God. What you definitely can't do is try to control that article in any way.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:50, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User name

[edit]

Please note that I have reported your username to WP:UAA as a promotional/corporate name in violation of the user name policy.--ukexpat (talk) 14:22, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest, though you may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you.

Nobody "owns" or controls an article, least of all someone with such an obvious conflict of interest as you are displaying. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:11, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
