User blocking

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your message re user 193.112.229.153. That user has now been blocked for vandalism. Wikipedia has a system for dealing with this type of user - see WP:VAND for the full details. If a user is found to be vandalising a series of templates are put on their user page warning them that they are breaking the rules - if they continue they are blocked for a period, as has now happened with the Moose vandal. If you want to help out - take a look through that page and at the bottom you'll find some tools to help find vandals and put things right. Kcordina 13:26, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you speak Norwegian. Can you please check my addition of the maiden name of Ann Stine as 'Moe'. I found it in the New York Times obituary, but when I googled for it I could only find Norwegian sources, which I couldn't read. If you could verify it for me, I would be greatful. Cheers. How does one translate «den vakre» ?

[edit]

The term «den vakre» exceeds both my Norwegian vocabulary and my dictionaries. The name Frier comes from the old Norse and means «den vakre» or the watchman? Any help would be appreciated. Williamborg 23:27, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure what you mean. What is the context? --Grumpy444grumpy 19:40, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Apologies for dropping that queston on you without context.
I'm improving my Norwegian by translating Norwegian Wiki articles into English.
While trying to translate the last sentence in the article at no:Frierfjorden into English. I found myself up against a word which I couldn't decipher from context or from any of the dictionaries I have.
Since you appear to be proficient in both English & Norwegian, I took the liberty of asking you (albeit poorly).
Any chance you can help?
Tusen takk - Williamborg 19:47, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate your response. And feel somewhat better about being confused by it. Thanks - Williamborg 00:25, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I need someone to check out my english spelling in the addition to the article about Valdres Folkemuseum. Hopefully I found the right buildings! — John Erling Blad (no) 20:20, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I recently ran across the article Tune Ship, which you created. The article is unreferenced, and I was wondering if you knew of any references for it. Thanks, ErikTheBikeMan (talk) 15:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
