The Iraq Solidarity Campaign UK

The Iraq Solidarity Campaign UK was first formed in 2003 and previous to the founding of this movement, worked under the banner of the Coalition Against Sanctions and War on Iraq (CASWI).

CASWI was formed in 1997 and actively opposed the United Nations sanctions on Iraq. The organisation initially emerged out of the coming together of the North West branch of the Campaign Against Repression and for Democratic Rights in Iraq (CARDRI), the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Pax Christi and various Iraqi opposition groups.

Noted guest, who have spoken at ISC meetings includes award winning journalist Felicity Arbuthnot, The Human Relief Foundation, Iraqi Women's League and Reg Keys, who stood against Tony Blair in the Sedgefield constituency.

The Iraq Solidarity Campaign have helped to highlight the destruction to Iraq's ancient sites, have participated in campaigns for the release of kidnapped British and Iraqi citizens and are critical of the continuing occupation of Iraq.
