[edit]Sorry, Wikipedia is not a blog and is not for the promotion of Clary's views. Right or wrong. If you want to add Clary's views on anything then you must find mainstream press sources and use those as references. --Justanother 15:01, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
If the source for my inclusions is from http://www.answers.com/topic/johnny-lee-clary then would it be classed as coming from a mainstream press source?Headshrink 15:09, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, because answers.com just copies its articles from Wikipedia, and we can't reference ourselves; we're not a reliable source. Veinor (talk to me) 15:21, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. No, that is simply an older version of the Wikpedia article and Wikipedia cannot be a source for itself. Boils down to anyone can put anything on their own website but we would only repeat that here if it is mentioned in secondary sources (press). You can find interviews and stories about Clary and describe his views based on what is in that already publised or aired material. This is an encyclopedia based on previously published material, not a place to promote one's opinions. Please see WP:V, WP:NPOV and the other links I put above. --Justanother 15:22, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Just so I am clear. What are you refering to when you say (press)? Headshrink 15:25, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- See WP:V
If you find reliable sources and report fairly what they say then it will be people that care more about Clary and the issues than I that will fight with you. Not me. --Justanother 15:29, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Articles should rely on reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Sources should be appropriate to the claims made: exceptional claims require exceptional sources. All articles must adhere to Wikipedia's neutrality policy, fairly representing all majority and significant-minority viewpoints that have been published by reliable sources, in rough proportion to the prominence of each view.
I don't see having a discussion with an editor as being a fight. I was just wanting some clarification.Headshrink 15:34, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, this is not what I am referring to. I am referring to fighting over the content of the article and the wording, etc. "Discussing with extra enthusiasm", if you prefer. I am just interested that this project not be abused to promote someone's non-notable (i.e. not published by reliable sources) opinions. I could care less what goes in the article provided it meets WP:V and WP:NPOV. Others might feel differently. --Justanother 15:41, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
