Tan Hill

[edit]

Hiya - I question the wisdom of splitting Tan Hill Inn from Tan Hill, Yorkshire. There's maybe an argument for renaming Tan Hill as Tan Hill Inn, but without any details of the pub the Tan Hill article will never be more than a stub. Dave.Dunford (talk) 20:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The pub itself definitely needed to be a separate entity, but whether there needs to be a page for the hill at all is debatable - what's the general practice for geographical features in Wikipedia? Hubpedia
I've merged the Tan Hill Inn and Tan Hill, Yorkshire articles following support/lack of opposition for a merger proposal on the Tan Hill talk page. I don't really know "general practice", but I do know that there shouldn't be two articles, one about the hill and one about the pub. I decided that as the pub is named after the hill, the hill article should be the one that should remain - but the place is most famous for the pub, so I'm not sure whether to rename the article Tan Hill Inn and relegate material about Tan Hill itself to a subsection. Links to Tan Hill Inn will redirect to the Tan Hill, Yorkshire article anyway so the question is largely academic now. Dave.Dunford (talk) 10:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
