. Have a great Wiki-Day.It occurred to me that with all the media coverage of the exterior shoreline purchase from the Door County Land Trust, there will be people coming to the island to look for it.
Possibly some of the problem with trespassing could be due to the lack of printed information. Unless one uses the Wisconsin Parcel Map, the Door County Web-map, and the DNR Private Forest Lands Open for Public Recreation maps, there there is no terribly reliable way to know which areas are open and which are closed. I linked to the E911 addressing map, but that is rather limited, especially since the public dock is a 1.5 mile walk from the lighthouse.
You are in a position to help with this; you could go and take photos of the new area purchased by the Door County Land Trust and upload them to Wikimedia commons. Then they can go on the Chambers Island page. People can see the pictures and recognize the area or areas which are open instead of trespassing on your or your friend's properties. If you need help, you can leave a message for me on my talk page.
As for the other route of trying to make the Chambers Island page look as if it was a private island, I don't think that can work; even if the page was written that way. Many people in northwest Wisconsin are aware that the diocese sold largely to the Land Trust, be it from the diocesan newsletter or Land Trust media releases in various outlets. So anti-trespassing work now comes down to fighting fire with fire so to speak. The "fire" is when people have limited or general and incomplete information--they think maybe the whole island is a free-for-all. You can fight the bane of limited information with better and more complete information. Maybe someday there will be an easy-to-use map published outlining everything. But for now, photos would be a start.--Epiphyllumlover (talk) 18:33, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
