Freidan quote

[edit]

If you think the quote should be removed why not be WP:BOLD and remove it? Seems like it's kind of floating outside a context anyway. Simonm223 (talk) 12:48, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did remove it, back in 2021. But it seem to have returned shortly after, so this time I though if people insist on having it there, it would be better to at least provide the context than to see it disappear just to reappear Iverinc (talk) 13:25, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd concur that context is good. It's an unfortunate truth that Beauvoir enjoyed saying inflammatory things in interviews on occasion but there was usually some overarching point she was trying to make beyond the bon mot. That said, it's of questionability due weight to include every time she said something spicy on record so if you decide to delete I'd not oppose. Simonm223 (talk) 13:35, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also OMG but the petition is one of those things that just... irks... me both on-wiki and off. Nobody picks up on the context that it was about differential ages of consent for straight and gay relationships. As somebody who has read... a lot of Sartre, Beauvoir, Foucault, Deleuze, etc. it just drives me crazy. Simonm223 (talk) 14:54, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
