Hi, thank you for your email. Ah ok, i thought it would be ok to show people what else they do for example wedding services. I notice that another site like us had done the same thing under References section for Brent Civic Centre -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brent_Civic_Centre
(Number 9 on the references section) so took this as being allowed? Can you advise why they can have this on there, just so i can see the difference. Many thanks, Jo :) JG2023A (talk) 13:32, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for replying. The relevant guideline is WP:ELNO which prohibits (amongst other things) Individual web pages that primarily exist to sell products or services. I considered your links to be promotional.
In the case of Brent Civic Centre, the reference to which you refer was added to support the phrase and a wedding garden. When a page includes something that is discouraged, that is not a reason to include similar content on other pages, see WP:OTHERCONTENT. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 14:14, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ok thank you for the clarification. So if the post about Buckinghamshire Railway Centre says about the fact they do weddings there then we can then link to it? Sorry to be a pain, i just want a good understanding of how it all works. :) JG2023A (talk) 14:24, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you're adding a reference to some content that is in the page, it would be better to locate an independent third-party source. But if all you want to do is add a link at the bottom of a page, WP:ELNO#EL5 applies. Either way, it's not a good website to use. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 16:24, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
