Olympic articles[edit]

I have replied to your message on my talk page. violet/riga (t) 20:59, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greeting JGG, not sure how well you understand French but it appears that User:Hardouin (or User:Metropolitan) has been talking bad about you over on fr:Discuter:Paris#Sauvons_Paris_.21 as fr:Utilisateur:Fair&Balanced. I can translate what's been said if you don't understand... just let me know. Thanks. (Netscott) 13:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nesctott, yes thanks for letting me know. I can understand they may not have been very happy because I destroyed their dreams about Paris being a majorglobal financial capital. The problem is that a lot of these country/city articles sometimes read as if they are written by some national promotion agency. We probably all make that mistake when we write about our own city or country. But then it should be great if an outsider picks up on that and tries to improve. For instance I have been giving suggestions on the Paris Economy article (on the discussion page) and there just no reaction. I think the problems with some of the Paris articles go much further than some geographic denominations. The same can proobably be said about many city contributions though. fr:User:Fair&Balanced is User:Hardouin - contributor of the nice graphs in both the demographics of Paris and fr:Paris articles. THEPROMENADER 15:23, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One of English Wiki's big problems concerning the Paris articles is English Wiki's lack of interest/knowledge in them. There are articles that have stagnated for months without major change/improvement, and unfortunately a (very) few have profited from this lack of contributors/consensus to force a rather interesting point of view on certain subjects. I hope things remain close to reality from here on. As someone suggested, it would be best to take French articles as an example; no-one would (has) dare(d) to do there what some have tried here, and fact does not change with language. Cheers. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
