JHArnold, Welcome to Wikipedia! I just saw your edit on the Chiropractic page and really am glad to see your input. Feel free to add whatever you can and make yourself at home. Keep in mind that there are editors with different points of view(POV) that may delete some of your changes, so don't worry if they are gone the next morning:) Just move over to the discussion page and discuss why you think your changes should stay and everyone will chime in(don't forget to sign your posts). This is the ultimate in cooperative (used loosely:) efforts! Again - welcome and have fun!!! --Dematt 01:18, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
BTW - is it California that teaches minor surgery? --01:18, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Dematt.
- When I went to Western States Chiropractic College in the '80s, the state of Oregon allowed DCs to do "minor" surgery (that's surgery that happens to someone else), and so the school had to teach it. That was my understanding anyway. At the time there was a court case involving a DC in which he (I think) had performed a vasectomy that didn't go well. This issue was whether a "major" body cavity had been invaded, I believe.
- I haven't practiced for years. When I tell this to most DCs they react as if I'd left the church.
- I don't actually know if this is the proper way to respond to you. I'm a total newbie at Wikipedia, but I'm intrigued by it. I didn't see a "reply" button or anything like that. JHArnold 15:17, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- You figured it out! Now when you add a comment to a conversation on a talk page, put a colon in front of the paragraph and it will indent your comment so everybody can follow which conversation you are responding to. If you click on edit this page you will see how I did it. Put one in front of every paragraph you write. Then start typing your heart out:)
- That is so neat about the minor surgery. I graduated in 1983! I knew I should have gone to Oregon:) They sound like they had more fun!
- Just a hint. Everything here is based on WP:NPOV (neutral point of view). There is no WP:OR (no original research- in other words, nothing that you made up). You have a unique POV that we have not had on the chiro page, so it will be valuable. But keep in mind that that page is filled with editors that are chiros, research scientists, skeptics and just plain chiro haters. All have legitimate POVs. When you add yours, the dynamics of the article will change. Don't worry if I don't agree with youAs long as you can prove your POV with outside research that is verifiable, your edit can be defended. Otherwise, it gets jumped on:) I've been working at this for a few months and am thoroughly hooked. You can also reach me on my talk page. I'll be watching for you! --Dematt 17:43, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
