Hello, I do not understand your edit on my talk page - I see your comment, but I do not see what you changed?

MakinaterJones (talk) 08:14, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Sorry MakinaterJones, perhaps I should have said something more.
The {{Help me}} template is not just a passive thing. It places the page in a special category and gets reported on the IRC channel every 20 minutes as long as it is active. When your request has been responded to, which is usually done by changing it to read {{Help me-helped}}, the alarm stops ringing. The instructions in the -helped box say to change it back to {{Help me}} if you need further help on the same issue.
It also looked to me like the result of the edit warring report had concluded the issues you were looking for help on, so I just removed the extra {{Help me}} template. I understand that there has been more discussion in the meantime, but it was surprising to me that you'd challenge an admin's close like that.
If you still have questions about the issues, I suggest that - rather than using the blanket {{Help me}} template, you simply ask the editors and admins involved directly. That may take a little longer, because few of us are online 24x7, but it's better to work with direct communication once someone has become involved. You may note a certain asperity in one of Huon's responses because of your over-use of the help templates. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:38, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Dear jmcgnh,
This is just an EXCELLENT explanation - I will take care.
MakinaterJones (talk) 20:05, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
@MakinaterJones: as for the help me template you tried to use at WP:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard, it simply wasn't working there so I removed the brackets. If you go back in history to your earlier edit, you'll see the template box complaining about how it was used in the wrong place. Posting on a noticeboard is - all by itself - a request for a certain type of help and noticeboards are actively watched by admins.
And I see that you may have been editing while logged out and that your IP address has now been blocked. If that was really you, I advise that you treat the IP block as a block on your registered account. Go do something enjoyable for a week, resist the urge to edit (but you may read, just to see what's being said), and come back with some fresh ideas. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:26, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diligence
I've been meaning to give this to you for a while, but your thorough and helpful comments on AfC drafts are more than appreciated. Thanks for the time you put into them, and for making AfC and IRC (heck all the C's) that much better. Drewmutt (^ᴥ^) talk 04:33, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

I found a new independent reference. Please check it out and let me know.Stgrlee16 (talk) 00:08, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Looks like it might be suitable, but I don't have access to the book you're referencing to verify. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:09, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive

Hello Jmcgnh/Archives/2017, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
