[edit]

Hi Jon,

I answered to your discussion on Talk:Sportpalast speech. I'll try to find out more about the availability of an audio file of the entire speach. ;)

Hi Jon,

you wrote:

I agree, but I'll go one step further; liberals in the USA seem to be afraid of the word and would rather deny being a liberal than stand behind their ideas and ideals. This sort of weakness doesn't help the liberal cause, and reminds me of too many cases in history where weakness and defeatism on the part of liberal democratic parties has allowed vile regimes to gain and hold power. With friendly greetings

Oh yes you're right. The true liberals in the USA are afraid of the word because it has been defiled by conservatives and dragged into a very negative "concept" or whatever the conservative folks call it. I think it was quite the same thing in the late 1920s and early 1930s in Germany. The true liberals decided to keep a low profile and that helped the Nazis to assume power. Not that I am comparing the GOP with the Nazis but I think they are becoming a major danger for America's image in the world, especially when there are people like Arnold Schwarzenegger who better shouldn't have run for governor in California. He hasn't been doing very well ever since his election. I hope more people will soon grasp things like you do and will understand that things are going very wrong in America at this time. ;)
