Unfortunate Latin

[edit]

In the phrase mater lectionis, the two nouns are NOT in apposition, so one of the nouns doesn't automatically become plural just because the other one is made plural. It depends on the intended meaning, and the established conventional plural of mater lectionis is ''matres lectionis... AnonMoos (talk) 03:33, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The transliteration of the third glyph in "Ptolemy" is "wꜣ", not "o". Compare the same glyph, above, in Cleopatra, or the MdC list of multiliteral hieroglyphs...

Excuse the prior revert, it was intended to provoke a response. I was wondering whether your change was truly intentional, as all I get on my firefox browser is the letter 'w' followed by a box containing the letters "A723". In any case, never mind. Ah, I assume you meant to write 'wȝ', right? In that case, you did not enter the character in unicode. Let me know to correct it.
I understand what's going on... you were right in using an aleph symbol, however, even on my Vista system its unicode character is still not supported. I assume that is why the other editors of the article resorted to the yogh symbol. So how do you think this situation should be handled... using yogh as a hack, or aleph, which would be correct but not displayable on a majority of systems? Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
