Mic-O-Say

I have had conversations with the upper echelons of its leadership within the last month. I understand perfectly how this secret society works, which is in direct contradiction to BSA's national YP policies. I have spoken to leadership in both locations, and both had the same air of "secret society". In one instance, I was even met with aggression for asking questions and not having a pair of plastic claws while in an area where said leadership was meeting; there was nothing scoutlike about the encounter and it felt incredibly cultish.

For the purpose of due diligence and fairness, I will re-read my postings and make sure they are balanced, but, as a state/national representative of my charter organization, I cannot in good faith not post my observances/encounters with Mic-o-Say. BSA is still trying to exit a near $3B settlement because of "secrets" and a lot of sponsoring charter organizations have had to pay into that lawsuit. Remaining charter organizations need to be made aware when BSA, or any affiliated program on BSA property, is conducting itself in a manner that could raise even the smallest modicum of suspicion. Based on your edits, comments here and elsewhere. It does appear that you had made up your mind before getting all the facts.

Here is an analogy. My spouse and I are open and honest with one another. However, we still keep things like gifts and plans for special occasions secret so that we do not ruin the surprise. We also respect one another's privacy and do not barge in when a door is closed (ie the bathroom). Micosay is similar. Some things are kept from the youth so it does not ruin the surprise when they are admitted. Parents/leaders are admitted to the program observe the scouts at every step. Several parents in our had reservations with the program but after seeing how it is run and the impact it has on the scouts, they all fully support the program. Some still think it is silly, but they see nothing nefarious with it. The same is true with Order of the Arrow.

Also, leaders getting angry at you for going somewhere you are not allowed, is hardly evidence of anything bad with the program. They are trying to avoid names leaking out that could ruin the surprise for the scouts. I am sure they would have had a similar response if they spotted you wandering around staff cabins, facilities buildings, in the kitchen area of the dining hall, or sneaking into the pool when it is closed. While I appreciate your response, I take exception to your statement "It does appear that you had made up your mind before getting all the facts"; I categorically reject this accusation.

In 2023, I specifically had discussions with the director of the CG Mic-o-Say program after being aggressively approached by random adults from his sycophantic, minion staff. At that time, I asked for me and my children to be removed from the membership roster. I know exactly what Mic-o-Say is.
