Bandara Internasional Lombok[edit]

Hi Joshua, sorry I have just reverted your LOP IATA code listing for the Lombok International Airport - Bandara Internasional Lombok, as far as I can see this LOP code all started on some blog back toward the end of September and is just misinformation gone viral. Less tha helpful is that the official IATA page still lists AMI as at Seleparang. LOP comes up blank there and I can find no other official IATA listing that mentions it, and I have been looking for a while now.

In recent days Batavia air inexplicably started using LOP on their route description but still use Mataram in their booking engine. Garuda, hopeless as ever are stil describing the destination as "AMI (Mataram (AMI), Selaparang Airport " in their booking system. Merpati and Lion/Wings are using Mataram (AMI). As far as I know they are all still ticketing as AMI.

http://hubud.dephub.go.id/files/dokumen/AIP%20SUPP%2004%20Tahun%202011.pdf only describes the ICAO code (WADL). Most of the internet sources are just picking up froom the occassional edits to the WIKIpedia article (like your own ) that list LOP.Yopu can see this in the prose and formatting style used on many of these sites it is just WP cut and paste.

I think we should leave it as is at this time unless you have some really good information on this that I am lacking. cheers -- Felix (talk) 07:14, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. When I do the Search Location Code in http://www.iata.org/ps/publications/pages/code-search.aspx, LOP returns Lombok International.
In addition, we received the announcement from GA (PT.Garuda Indonesia Hongkong), that with effective from November 12, they will use the airport code LOP instead of AMI.

I:'ve checked on http://www.garuda-indonesia.com/, it offers the destination selection as AMI, but the returned flight shows LOP.

That's what I have on hand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by User talk:Joshuachung (talkcontribs)
It certainly is confusing, and that is very interesting about the Garuda (HK) advice. Batavia seem to have decided to go part way on it. I have never been able to find a single authorative source on this, they all ultimately seem to trace back to either that blog or the WP articles, LOP only started appearing when it popped up in the blog and then spread like a fire when it went into WP. Several people have changed it and I have kept on reverting it, each time with a plea for a cite or source, they never come back with one. I do not mind if it is LOP (or Lopped) but I want to try and find something more substantive than somebodies blog to cite. BTY it is at skyscrapercity.com
When I do a search for Mataram ( at http://www.iata.org/ps/publications/pages/code-search.aspx); I get the result : "City name=Mataram, 3-letter city code=AMI, Airport name=Selaparang, 3-letter airport code=AMI"
When I do a search for AMI I get: "City name=Mataram, 3-letter city code=AMI, Airport name=Selaparang, 3-letter airport code=AMI"
When I do a search for LOP I get: "No results for "lop" (I am using Search by = "Location code-Enter city/airport code is entered as "LOP" , the return is "No results for "LOP"
When I do a search for Praya I get: "No results for "praya""
I just did all the searches again and still the same thing. What is pertinent here though is that the listing indicating Selaparang confirms the IATA database has not been updated, Bandara Internasional Lombok is most certainly not either in the Dusun of Seleparang, nor is the new airport named Selaparang we can be certain of that at least. Frankly I do not entirely trust Garuda as a source, they often get things wrong, for example they are still using Seleparang in their destinations.
When I did a test booking with Garuda I only did a 1 way enquiry, and got AMI, Mataram, Selaparang. If I try to use LOP in the Garuda system it does not respond, it only responds to "Mataram (AMI), Selaparang Airport (AMI)" or AMI.
However, now when I do a return booking:
(I selected "Thu, 24 Nov 2011 Mataram (AMI) - Denpasar Bali (DPS)" and "Fri, 25 Nov 2011 Denpasar Bali (DPS) - Mataram (AMI)",
I then get a response of "GA 437- from LOP 18:55, to DPS 19:30 and return: GA 436 from DPS 17:35, to LOP 18:10.
So Garuda have managed to use both AMI and LOP on the same booking.
If I then confirm that same Garuda booking I get:
  • "DEPARTURE Mataram, Selaparang Airport (AMI) to Denpasar Bali, Ngurah Rai Arpt (DPS), Thu, 24 Nov 2011
GA 437 () Denpasar Bali (DPS) Departure 18:55 Arrival 19:30 Economy (H) (note the IATA code is just not there at all now and is only represented as () )
  • RETURN Denpasar Bali, Ngurah Rai Arpt (DPS) to Mataram, Selaparang Airport (AMI), Fri, 25 Nov 2011
GA 436 Denpasar Bali (DPS) To () Departure 17:35 Arrival 18:10 Economy (H) (note again the IATA code is just not there at all now and is only represented as () )
This all seems to be a recent development, maybe this was the change Garuda intimated toward as taking place on the 14 nov. Garuda seem a little unsure about it themselves.
Lion air seem to be sticking with "Mataram AMI: I did a test with a feb 2012 date and got "MATARAM (AMI) to JAKARTA (CGK) Wednesday, 15 Feb, 2012', "JAKARTA (CGK) to MATARAM (AMI) Sunday, 19 Feb, 2012", "JT 651 737-900ER 0 Stops 1h 55m Mataram (AMI) Wed 06:00 Jakarta (CGK) Wed 06:55" etc...all still AMI
I did a search for LOP and AMI at http://hubud.dephub.go.id/?en, they still list only "AMI, WADA, SELAPARANG" at http://hubud.dephub.go.id/?en+info_bandara+detail+16. A ggogle search for PT. Angkasa Pura I LOP is also unproductive. -- Felix (talk) 10:16, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Joshua, well it seems the IATA database has finally been revised to list LOP for Praya, Lombok. I note that Mataram still turns up AMI, however a search for "Praya" now provides LOP, a search for "Lombok" now provides LOP. A search for LOP now provides "City =Praya, City code=LOP, Airport=Lombok International, Airport code=LOP". A search for AMI provides City="Mataram" City code="AMI" Airport name="Selaparang" Airport code="AMI". Thanks for updating the article earlier, I am pleased that your earlier edit has now been restored.
BTY of the airlines operating to Lombok; Lion Air are still using AMI coding, Garuda and Batavia now seem to have fully transitioned to LOP usage, Merpati are still playing it both ways and TransNusa schedule to AMI. I have heard locally there were apparently some quite complex issues behind the IATA coding problem for the new airport. The important issue is that IATA are listing it so of course your edit has now been restored and I attached a (IATA code page) cite to it today to ensure it stays that way. cheers -- Felix (talk) 13:33, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
