For organising today's Medical Research Council Workshop, bringing Wikipedia volunteers in to your workplace to train scientists and science communicators, you deserve this Real Life Barnstar. Thanks for making us welcome, MartinPoulter (talk) 20:34, 1 July 2011 (UTC) |
MRC Wikipedia Workshop in Cambridge
[edit]Morning all
Unfortunately due to an unavoidable meeting in Swindon with Heads of Comms and IT from all the other Councils I have been forced to miss this much more interesting event - and have sent my more than able deputy Anna in my place (wave Anna!)
MRC involvement with Wikipedia has been endorsed at (Headoffice) Director level and I firmly believe it is the cornerstone of any attempt to engage the public online. In 2012 and onward to 2013 we will be unveiling some more formal involvement with Wikipedia - including hopefully reusing content on the corporate site, some sort of competition and hopefully a 'Wikipedian in Residence' at one of our locations.
I'd like to thank Darren and his colleagues from Sanger for volunteering today and Wikimedia UK for the continued support in general.
Hope the day goes well.
