CAPRIVI STRIP/REGION NAMIBIA[edit]

THE REGION’S HISTORY[edit]

Caprivi Region is one of the 13 regions of Namibia and is the first region of the 13 regions. Caprivi region was first known as Itenge and was ruled by the lozi kings, it then changed in the late 19th centuary when it was administered as part of the British protectorate of Bechuanaland. The Germans then laid claim to the British administered island of Zanzibar in 1890, but the British objected to the claim. This dispute was then settled in the Berlin Conference in 1890. The British acquired Zanzibar and the Germans settled for the territory which was known or named Caprivi Strip which was named after a German Chancellor, General Georg Leo von Caprivi.

CLIMATE CONDITION[edit]

Caprivi experiences hot weather conditions and heavy rainfall around the month of December all the way to march. Making it a ever green place. Caprivi has a lot of green vegetations, and a lot of its investments come from agriculture.

CONSTITUENCIES[edit]

Caprivi has six constituencies namely: Kongola, Linyanti, Sibinda, Katima Mulilo Urban, Katima Mulilo Rural, and Kabbe.

SETTLEMENTS AND VILLAGES[edit]

Katima Mulilo is the main town of the region, it is located near/next the Zambezi River. The region has other settlements aside its town KM. There are several settlements and villages within the region: Musanga, Kongola, Chinchimane, Bukalo, Sibinda, Impalila, Wenela, Sachona, Omega III, Singalamwe, Choi, Sangwali, Sikwalo, Linyati, Sibbinda, Sachinga, Kabbe, Ngoma, Ibbu, Ioma, Ngala, Masokotwani, Kasani, Kalimbeza, Kito, and Lyambezi, Luses, Lisikili, Mbalasinte, Nakabolelwa, Musanga,Batubaja, Makanga, Silumbi, Sikanjabuka, Mutikitila, Mahundu, Iseke, Isuswa, Muzii, Nankutwe, Schukumasberg, Mertzberg, Kwena, Machita, Sachinga, Mubiza, Ihaha, Sachona, Masida.Etc

TRIBES AND LANGUAGES[edit]

There have a lot of different tribes in the region: Subia, Lozi, Mafwe, Yeyi, Totela, Mambalangwe, San and Mbukushu. Just like their tribe names that the language they speak e.g the Subia’s speak subia, the Lozi’s speak Silozi.

BORDERING COUNTRIES[edit]

Caprivi is the only region that shares its borders with 4 other countries namely: Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
