Deletion

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Um, welcome back? I deleted that article, because I'm pretty confident it was made mistakenly by a newbie, as an outgrowth of some vandalism. Thanks for sticking up for possibly good content, I just don't think this particular one was worth it. Cheers, Mak (talk) 04:01, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

You are right. I should have checked the history of Toronto Raptors. Apologies for confusion caused. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 04:01, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Absolutely no problem. I appreciate it when people stick up for stuff which might be good, but doesn't look too pretty yet. I try to do it myself. :) Mak (talk) 04:03, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Support against racist edits

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Thanks for supporting me in helping to bring the racist edits to the attention of the Administrators. I for one would be interested to see him try to sue me in UK with that evidence present; he wouldnt stand a chance. Its a shame wikipedia falls to these levels sometimes isnt it :(... Good work, and keep it up Fyver528 12:22, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

No problem, and good work yourself. I am confident that our friend's threats are backed up by the full force of the mighty Atlantean legal system, though years of living in America has instilled in me an arrogant disregard for the legal systems of other civilizations, especially those that don't exist. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 12:36, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
He still keeps posting on my userspace. I've been reverting it each time (and laughing at the threats). The administrators surely won't have a problem with me removing his drivel? Fyver528 12:49, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Removing personal attacks and racist junk from the userspace has a long and hallowed history in WP. The only real restriction I've ever seen enforced on a user's ability to do whatever he wants on his talk pages is against removal of official warnings, which your case is clearly not. If you don't mind a word of advice, my recommendation would be to let the administrators impose a block on this guy (which I think is likely, but I don't deem to speak for them), then do the cleanup. –Dicty (T/C) 12:57, 24 June 2006 (UTC) = User:Kaustuv
Right, i havent tampered with the history files, so they're all available to look at, I will leave anything further until he's surely blocked. Thanks for the advice Fyver528 13:01, 24 June 2006 (UTC). Update: oh for crying out loud he's changed his IP address, it appears he's on a dynamic IP address as it resolves to the same ISP. So even if they block him he can keep coming back and pestering me :( -> 83.31.213.153 (talk · contribs · count) Fyver528 13:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Admins can block ranges. I've already posted that new IP to the WP:AIV. –Dicty (T/C) 13:13, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Hopefully he doesnt start using 'other' more intelligent methods of coming back and having another go. Not going to list them here incase he decides to take it as inspiration hah. Cheers again Dicty/Kaustuv Fyver528 13:19, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Return of Atlantis (or something)

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start I think I might have upset him somewhat, he's been back and vandalised my talk page and userpage a few times... Crazy Neo Nazi. He doesnt realise I'm not even black, but thats not the point and I'll let him keep believing that :P Fyver528 10:06, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to hear that. If the present 24 hour block doesn't cure him, it may be time for an WP:AbRep. Hopefully he releases the futility of his actions this time. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 11:01, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Actually, and this shows my unfamiliarity with WP's abuse system, it appears that AbRep would be premature until the situation gets much worse. I am sure an admin will block this user for a much longer duration the next time he vandalises anything. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 11:13, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Okay which psycho just uploaded that porn picture to your talk... You've got some admirers too it seems :| Fyver528 12:09, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Romanization

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Hello, I just noticed that you moved Decotora to Dekotora. I understand your rationale, but Decotora is by far the more common romanization. The deco part comes from the English decoration after all. Shouldn't the redirect go in the opposite direction? Lur 09:43, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Are you sure? 19,000 Google hits for "dekotora"[1] vs. only 1,100 for "decotora"[2]. In any case, WP:MOS-JA says to use Hepburn romanization unless it's a name, and I don't think "decotora" qualifies as a name. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 18:22, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Translation work

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Thanks for confirming the correct definition of mataal. I went to the unnecessary trouble of trying to find a Bengali speaker at Wikipedia:Translators_available#Bengali-to-English, but all three are inactive. If you're so inclined, listing yourself there could be helpful in case any actual translation needs to be done. Cheers!--Kchase02 T 02:11, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

No problem. It should be maataal anyhow. I've considered listing myself as a bn→en translator before, but the Bengali WP is still in its infancy and I'd much rather work on areas the en WP is very deficient in compareed to other WPs. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 03:02, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Everywhere Girl

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Hi, Everywhere Girl was speedy deleted for being a repost, so I removed the nomination from the AfD page. Dionyseus 12:02, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but it still has to be closed properly in case there are future AfDs on it. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 12:04, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I didn't know. I went ahead and self-reverted. Dionyseus 12:06, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

AfD on Individual Counter-Strike maps

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Just wanted to inform you of Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Individual_Counter-Strike_maps (July 17, 2006). I'm alerting everyone who had more than 2 edits in one of the previous AfDs. Kind regards, David Bergan 19:10, 17 July 2006 (UTC) User:Kaustuv/Hidden end

Need your support

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Hey, You have been quite active in editing the Nagpur article. So, go to the discussion page and give your support for nominating Nagpur for the Indian collaboration for this week. --Wikindian 22:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I have never edited Nagpur. You must have found the wrong person. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 23:53, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Jerome Armstrong

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start please stop reverting wholesale on Jerome Armstrong. Conform to WP standards and make edits. First of all, the selection of one quote in order to smear is not WP standards. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.239.110.139 (talkcontribs) 2006-07-21 07:54:36 (UTC)

I have not reverted wholesale. Merely your POV edit. Please sign your comments on talk pages. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 11:59, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
You did not revert wholesale the second time, granted. Please keep your edits to the facts of the matter. The whole allegation is a POV to begin with, get it?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.239.110.139 (talkcontribs) 2006-07-21 08:09:03 (UTC)
Target your comments at the author of the text you find objectionable. In this case, the author is User:Korny O'Near. Learn to use the article history and sign your comments, instead of lecturing people about Wikipedia policies, which I am exceedingly well aware of. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 12:11, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
I've deleted the article portion in question. There is no factual basis for the accusations in the link provided. I will take it up with User:Korny O'Near if he is the one that re-inserts it, however you reinserted the accusation, so you must back it up with links, or else leave it as be.
Fine. I see that my repetitive pleas to have you sigh your comments are having no effect. I have better things to do than participate in this wankery. Have your fun. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 15:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Jerome Armstrong

User:Kaustuv/Hidden start Kaustuv, you need to see the correction regarding Armstrong that your only post of allegation hinged upon: http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2006/06/kos_-_armstrong_blogola_scandal/

CORRECTION: Above, I stated that Jerome Armstrong was “blogging for Dean while clandestinely being on his payroll.” While that was indeed my recollection, it was in error. He in fact shut down myDD–at the time, more popular than DailyKos–during the entire period. My apologies.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.239.110.139 (talkcontribs) 2006-07-27 21:51:04 (UTC)

You need to stop deleting things you do not agree with. Discuss it in Talk:Jerome Armstrong before you delete anything. I will henceforth simply delete anything you post to my talk page that is not signed. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 22:34, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
You lack any credibility in this forum. You are intentfully mistrepresenting the truth in the matter, and should be sued for libel. If you would go to the links you post, you'd find that *your* accusations are lies. You are warned. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.239.110.139 (talkcontribs) 00:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
